Why not ban a girl/woman for misogyny? The word by definition is "hatred or discrimination against women", which can be perpetrated by either sex. Anything that's offensive is offensive. Any of you guys could be banned for misandry if you go around spouting denigrating comments about men ("guys suck, end of story, they should all be castrated with a fork"). And yes, I have met some people in the black community who discriminate against other blacks; that's actually been happening for centuries ("light" blacks versus "darker" blacks). So race, gender, sexual orientation, etc, you can still discriminate against a group you belong to (there's probably a psychological term for it out there).

Now whether what was said in the Dolphin Progress Report thread is discriminatory or not is what the real subject is. I found it to be a poor joke, which is why I did nothing then when it was posted. Personally (sorry if this upsets anyone) I think kinkinkijkin isn't as well articulated as she could be sometimes. Some posts take some effort to get at the intended meaning. I refuse to say her posts are convoluted, but sometimes I don't find them to be entirely concise or clear.

Intent goes a long way with communication, and I just didn't get the feeling that kinkinkijkin was being malicious. However, that doesn't change the fact that RachelB (correctly or incorrectly, doesn't matter) felt offended. Kinkinkijkin could (if she chose to) apologize or promise to not make bad or tasteless jokes (everyone should make that promise though). But banning is too severe, especially since a certain someone in random said a lot more sexist remarks without receiving one (though the user in question received public remonstration). That is not to say such remarks are okay or permissible, but the threshold for banning is not lightly passed. This should serve as a warning though to everyone. Stay away from bad jokes, think before you post something, and be clear about your meaning (a /s helps a lot fyi).

One last thing, kinkinkijkin, can I start calling you 4K for short? I can never remember if I'm spelling your name right, but since it has 4 K's, it's the perfect shortened version. If not, no problem.

Well, I wasn't being entirely serious :p just kinda popped into my head, that 4K thing.

Perhaps this is too personal (I know it can be a touchy subject) but have you recently transitioned, just started to, or have been transitioning for a while? All I can say is congratulations and I hope everything works out well for you. I suffer from GID, so anyone who's made or making the change gets points in my book.

Well you have my respect for going through those changes. I'm not in the place I want to be (physically or emotionally) just yet.

That's exactly what denotes meaning. The word is used most often to insult trans people. There's no such thing as mistakenly using a word. Every meaning that is used by speakers of a language is a valid meaning. Regardless of your intention, it's a terribly offensive term, and i am surprised you haven't realized that being trans yourself. Whether or not you intended to hurt anyone, you have, and continuing to use the word will inevitably lead to you hurting more people.

Yeah, let's move on from this. Most of it happened after being awake for 24 hours for personal reasons, I was incredibly pissed at other things and it got way too out of hand.

I've actually had some sleep now, and I've realised that using that term in particular might not have been the greatest idea, but it still stands what I had been referring to.

Now, if we both understand the other side, really, this has been going for too long.

Unrelated: Any significant benefits to manually building dolphin? Debating whether I should manually build it or just download a pre-built version for the purposes of testing.

So mah power supply is indeed bad, not sure why it worked fine for a bit then decided to croak again.. If I can't figure out the issue with the ram slot and resolve it on my own I'm gonna have to RMA again. Other than the psu and that one bad ram slot everything is fine with ram in the other two slots.

Right thread this time.

Ok, now i am speechless... Didn't saw that coming...

You know the 12-year-old who didn't exactly follow my advice after requesting I helped him design a gaming PC for about a penny? He decided today that he should buy an actual GPU as he'd found more money. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be working. Naturally, I was called, and spent the last 2 hours on Skype trying to fix the issue (including navigating their BIOS as their father read it out to me, letter by letter ("Okay, so the top of the screen still says 'A-S-U-S U-E-F-I B-I-O-S version #-#-#-#-#', just like it did before."), before deciding either they had broken the card while installing it, or it was actually dead on arrival. So, that was fun.

This was especially fun considering I've now been awake for 33 hours, which is a personal record, and basically happened because I had an end-of-exams party/BBQ, and the sun had risen again before the final nerf-war of the night finished, so I didn't go to sleep as I'm not good with sleeping in the light, and my curtains are ineffective. Somehow, though, I'm not tired enough to go to bed yet, but just tired enough to be irritable.
