^This.
Xtreme2damax Wrote:Edit: Anyone know what kwh on and kwh off is, what's the difference?
On = During peak hours
Off = Not during peak hours
They charge more during peak hours.
Xtreme2damax Wrote:Also wanted to say I hear funny sounds coming from my fridge occasionally.
Define "funny".
Xtreme2damax Wrote:How do I calculate what my computer, monitor, surround sound uses in dollars per month based on the hours per day I run it?
First look at your bill. How much are they charging you per kwh? 30P(W x N)/1000 = price per month
Where:
W = wattage of device(s)
N = number of hours device(s) is on per day
P = price per kwh
This assumes a 30 day month.
The wattage of your device will depend on what you're doing with it. Computers and speakers use a hell of a lot more power when they're "stressed" then when they're idle. You can approximate based on your usage pattern either by using a power calculator: http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psuca...orlite.jsp
Or measuring the draw from the outlet with a watt meter (or something similar), which is a bit more accurate.
They might be charging you more per kwh because you're out in the boonies. You haven't really given us the info. that we need so I don't know. That is a pretty high monthly bill even by my standards. I've never lived long term in a state that has "real winters" though. I can tell that it would require a lot of energy to keep a home heated in one of those states during that time of year unless it's extremely well insulated but I'm not sure exactly how much in your case.
A/C and high end desktops both use a shit ton of energy. Fridges I would probably consider moderate. Everything else you listed doesn't use a significant enough amount to really impact your bill.
Xtreme2damax Wrote:Most likely hardware doesn't matter and should focus on the psu but listed just in case.
Both matter but the rest of your hardware matters more.
Xtreme2damax Wrote:Get used to it, not all posts are going to be one sentence one off replies. Perhaps I shouldn't use spacing, punctuation and paragraphs and maybe that would be better?
Oh please. Stop trying to be dramatic. We both know the reason your posts are so long is the word count. I'm not exactly a great role model for this but you must admit you do have a way of dragging out sentences into paragraphs.
Xtreme2damax Wrote:I can't tell anymore if you are just trying to be funny/sarcastic or harass me.
He's trying to give you advise while being funny. His post was equivalent to saying "you should probably write shorter posts if you want more people to respond to them". I kind of agree with him even though your post wasn't that long. It certainly could be made a lot shorter.
Xtreme2damax Wrote:I'm just telling you it's becoming annoying, here and on the Steam forums. What next.. are you going to follow me to other forums I post at just to respond to me with snide remarks?
I really doubt he's following you around. Again you're making this out to be a bigger issue than it really is. You're a very active member of two of the forums he frequents. Of course he's going to run into your posts.
Xtreme2damax Wrote:Not even a long read and if you have an issue feel free to join the ranks of member(s) currently ignoring me and annoyed by me.
If it feels like everyone seems to have a problem with you then the problem is problem is probably you. Most people give friends/family/acquitances ample warning about what they're doing wrong before they cut ties.
Xtreme2damax Wrote:I'm a very patient and laid back person but even I have limits
I must admit that I don't know you all too well. But in the few talks we've had I don't believe you have shown much of either of those traits. I suppose it depends on the topic though. People are usually passionate/impatient about some topics that they care deeply about and laid back/patient about topics that they care little about. We tend to talk about tf2, steam, valve, dolphin, and other things that you're passionate about so I suppose there is a bit of bias in my assessment.
But then there are the other times when you lash out at people for things that you shouldn't really even care about. This thread has some good examples of that. It's sort of ironic that after he told you your post was too long you wrote a two paragraph rant about how he's harassing you.
