When I was trying to think of a username for runescape when I was 9 I remembered I'd been entertained by the username anyoldname in the high scores for a flash game. I tried it, and it was taken. I had to go up to AnyOldName3 to get an available version.
Since then I've just defaulted to the same username on everything, and have yet to find the original anyoldname anywhere. This isn't helped by the fact that I've adopted this name so thoroughly that I'm the only thing which appears when googling anyoldname. This is also related to the fact that I've been known in the past (but not here, I think) to object to being called AnyOldName without the 3.
Mine's basically a reference to 2 Mass Effect characters: My favorite Tali'Zorah, and Kasumi Goto, not one of my favorites so I changed the "s" but her name blended well.

Karen Williams?
This is new. About a year ago when I did my last check everything linked back to dolphin forums and a couple of online games I've played. Now it seems at least three other people have adopted the phrase, but all their accounts are under 18 months old, so are unlikely to be the original.
Well I was fresh out of high school and always struggled to fit in and never felt like I was accepted. I guess I wanted an identity that was the exact opposite of what I was instead of an identity according to my boring drab failure of a life. Over the years I used this identity to register on forums or elsewhere and it's my email address as well so 98% of results from searches will bring up all the communities I am part of with this name being taken only on Youtube and few other places. Was kind of ticked someone used it on Youtube after I assumed this identity, I started using it in 2005 and the Youtube account where someone else used the name was created in 2006. So on Youtube at least I use Xtreme24damax which I think was my age at the time of creating my Youtube account.
I kind of chuckle when players in online games point out my name when I am having a bad day and not playing well. They don't know the story behind why I chose the name I did and how long I've been using the identity, well before I got into online gaming. So I changed my name on Steam so at least no one is ridiculing my name anymore when I am not playing well.
Heh.. it kind of disappoints me with a new PC port of RE4 they didn't bother to invest time to figure out how to port all effects from the GC/Wii version. So no DOF effect, no specular highlights or bump maps and inferior lighting to the GC/Wi version. Capcom still stands by what they initially claimed, that there are no plans to port these effects to other platforms citing the effects are specific to the GC/Wii even though it's technically possible to port these effects to other platforms with modern hardware and api's. No hope these effects will ever be included in a future patch no matter how good sales are and there is currently no interest from modders to reverse engineer and patch in the effects. Capcom should have known from the debacle in 2007 not to release an incomplete and inferior ports of this game else there would be mass complaints. It's understandable why they couldn't port these effect to the PS2 version but it just reeks of laziness for ports to otherwise capable systems with modern hardware. I'm not sure why they bothered with a new PC port unless they were planning on porting everything including GC/Wii specific effects. It's a slap to the face as anyone with a capable system can emulate RE4 to experience the game as it was intended. I'm sure Dolphin could make better use of kb/mouse controls than the piss poor kb/mouse controls in this new PC port. There is no easy way short of using application or manually editing an ini to customize controls and no way to map turning to the mouse, only aiming with the mouse is possible. I'm sure Dolphin can make the game look more hd than the new UHD port especially with an hd texture pack which exists for the Wii version.
I had hopes for this when I first heard the announcement, I was hoping for a proper port without anything cut i.e.. all effects and lighting from the GC/Wii version. I'm still satisfied as it's much better than the poor excuse the original port from 2007 was. At least this new port contains in engine cut-scenes, all assets from the GC/Wii version, full polygonal models, approximated lighting/shading. HD textures could have been better as Capcom did a lackluster job designing the "hd" textures for this port. I've seen better work from modders who design texture mods in their free time at no cost and it's disheartening to see this level of quality coming from paid professionals. Some textures are stretched, not all textures were converted to hd. In one of the cabins in the village one floor texture remained sd or stretched hd and surrounding floor textures were either hd or sd. So one odd floor texture sticking out like a sore thumb.
I was hoping for a proper port with all effects from the GC/Wii, the port us PC folks wanted back in 2007 when Capcom released that abomination of a port. They should have originally done a port to PC directly from the GC/Wii version. That's the whole reason we've been getting inferior ports of this game is because Capcom is lazy, first port was based on and ported from the PS2 version and this new port is based on the Xbox 360 version.
I wanted a proper PC port because I want to run the game natively without the overhead with emulation that impacts performance. Since my i7 board died I can't emulate GC/Wii games with acceptable performance and everyone is after my money now so not enough cash to purchase new hardware. The game is also a part of my Steam library along with other Resident Evil games for easier access. There's greater modding potential with this version than on other systems.
Speaking of, was there ever an AR code to get rid of the letterboxing on GC RE4 to give a proper 16:9 picture? I've got my own patch to do it (and increase the horizontal res. from 512 to 640, which clears up the visible crosshatching), but just wondering if anyone ever made anything better...
