I'd assume that C++ is an inherently more low-level language and very device/architecture-specific, while Java is designed to be cross-platform. Also, the C++ standard managers don't want it for similar reasons.
Also, Java GUIs are hopelessly ugly and non-native-looking. I understand it's "cross-platform", but I abhor non-native-looking applications, such as Office 2013, and toolkits like FLTK.
FLTK does look like native apps for Windows 95 - 2000, or OS X apps built in the early 2000s. You can change the style of an FLTK application, but none of them are completely appealing (one slightly mimics GTK, and it's the least ugly). FLTK is easy to pick up and go with though.
As far as C++ and Java go, C++ is totally platform independent. All you need is a compiler that understands C++ and you're golden. With a proper compiler, I've ported a few programs to MIPS and ARM without changing a single line of code. So I would not say C++ is not designed to be cross-platform while Java is. Java still needs a proper run-time environment to do anything, so if you have something exotic (64-bit ARM for example, though there may be a JRE for it now) you're short on luck.
EDIT - Looks like Oracle supports 64-bit ARM now, but prior to last year, not so much. To be fair, prior to last year, 64-bit ARM was still a WIP.
Those whom play TF2 please let me know before joining a game I am in. I am mostly playing alone unless it's MVM since I am trying to warm up to playing after being absent from playing plus my internet is terrible it's hard to play any serious games.
Getting ISO members to agree on a GUI standard.
MS wouldn't likely support it so we would be back to square one.
DS on Wii U I guess XD

Is there a reason you want us to tell you first?
That was... interesting...
Are there ANY good Gnome 3 themes similar to Clearlooks that have scrollbar arrows? Right now, I'm using Clearlooks-Phenix, but the right-click menus on window title bars and GNOME apps don't show up properly.
Also, LMDE and Cinnamon DE (desktop enviroment) is acting weird. Fontconfig dependency error, xscreensaver not locking when I press the keyboard sleep button, the above-mentioned theme issue, etc.

Because I am trying to get back in the game back up to my previous skill level and improve more. I get stressed out because I don't do well and feel embarrassed then I demand you to medic for me because the team I am is getting stomped hard and is full of idiots who never played a FPS game and just discovered TF2 because it's free. I don't want to be an ass to anyone and try to concentrate on doing well alone, it throws me off when I suddenly see another friend ingame. So just a peace of mind thing to give me time to pick the game up again, the mechanics in this game are so different from traditional casual FPS that if you don't play for a while you start to suck and forget how to play. At least it seems that way with me and it's harder because I have to cope with bad lag but I suppose I am not that bad if I lag so much but can do as well as I am doing. Perhaps the lag will help me improve my skills so I will become an uber 1337 pro comp douchebag minus the douchebaggyness. This lag has caused me so many fail headshots, fail stabs and players are jittering, teleporting all over the place, even my grenades and stickies sometimes miss when they should have clearly been direct hits. Melee is near impossible and a luck of the draw since players lag around me, players rush me and kill be before I have time to react. It seems like everything is happening at 2x speed so if I see someone rushing at me and try to backtrack they are right in my face. I'll get stabbed or killed from behind not even a second after checking my back to see if all was clear and freaking Pyros light me up with their flamethrowers from 50' away.
The good news is that apparently the Sprint tower near me might be undergoing upgrades to 4G LTE which I will get an excellent signal from so all hope may not be lost yet.
