Thanks folks. I'm trying to get into a more active lifestyle and watch what I eat/drink. It's gonna be hard since it became ingrained into my lifestyle and daily routine but just in the last year I made changes and don't feel as hungry anymore. I think what helped me is going off psych, anxiety and depression meds as those were making me feel lethargic and had side effects of increased appetite and weight gain. I'm trying to find ways to cope with or overcome the anxiety w/o medication so I can feel and sleep better.
I need to make changes because I'm having problems with my ankles and feet swelling up, minor skin discoloration around my feet/ankles. Losing any weight is good for me and am working my way up with making more changes but right now just small steps to gradually get into a healthier lifestyle.
I have an idea for a next-gen communication system: Semi-private trees. It's something in between email and IM, except the viewing format is like a forum, there is a single thread rather than individual inboxes, and you can branch off sub-threads. Like a forum thread, except for branching and being focused towards limited numbers of people. It's like Google Wave, except everything's different.
"In other words, my weight is " + str(25 + round(random.random() * 150)) + " " + random.choice(('pounds', 'kilograms')) + ". I'm a bit concerned about my BMI, but nothing too bad. I'm more concerned that someone will find out I'm a bot."

I mean this in the nicest way possible: Get off your lazy ass and make an appointment! It takes 2 fucking minutes tops. No one else will be qualified to figure out what is going on with you or come up with a realistic solution.

Also looks like you put up one hell of a thing for "Halloween & October 31st" if it seriously appears on your list.
I can't recall anything that might have put that on the list. Half of them don't make any sense. Especially stuff like "American football" which I have zero interest in and have never looked up in my life.
This thread is quickly proving how inaccurate this data is.

So i had to eat 50% more than a fat person to have the same result, it seems i was burning everything. She gave me a diet that had a very strong breakfast and other stuff like a lot of nuts and meat, and it seemed to work gaining a couple of kilos in two weeks, but after a while i couldn't handle it and gave up. For example i had to eat a bowl of cereals, a toast and biscuits or a sweet for breakfast which was a bit too much for me. It had result but my stomach felt too full and swollen all the time, so i gave up.
I recall reading something a long time ago about Italians and Greeks having higher average basal metabolic rates due to genetics. That could be related. And thank god for that because I've seen the things you people eat! Your food is insanely delicious and fatty, a deadly combination
. Also regular exercise will actually raise your basal metabolic rate. Lots of other environmental factors impact it as well so I guess we'll never know for sure. I wish I could give you all some of my body fat.
ExtremeDude2 Wrote:Well shoot, I just found out my bmi is only 16.5 (I'm 6' 4", and weigh 135lb)
You can blame your insanely tall height for that. I think I have a solution. I'll bake you some cakes in exchange for you playing on my basketball team
.

This happens to me too. Video games, studying, and stress all cause me to forget to eat. Oh and my shitty cooking helps me lose my appetite too.

26. 1 point away from being normal weight

Good to hear. Keep at it.

I know I say this everytime but wtf are you talking about?
The first part is a serious idea. It's essentially a forum thread between a group of people, not linked to a central forum website, and not public. It could be a good method of communication, as you can't edit emails, and "reply to one person only" gets confusing. I am, however, concerned about information overload, and how forking the thread could impact how difficult it is to follow.
The second part is a joke implying that I am a bot written in Python. It is actually valid Python code which generates a randomized weight from 25 to 174, and the unit is randomly chosen between pounds and kilograms, leading to some truly ridiculous weights like 30 pounds.
Here are some sample outputs:
Quote:In other words, my weight is 47 pounds. I'm a bit concerned about my BMI, but nothing too bad. I'm more concerned that someone will find out I'm a bot.
In other words, my weight is 138 kilograms. I'm a bit concerned about my BMI, but nothing too bad. I'm more concerned that someone will find out I'm a bot.
The joke is that I wrote that in Python, a programming language commonly used for scripts, further supporting the supposition that I am a bot pretending to be a person. The last part is intended to be highly ironic, as I'm just giving away the "truth".
The sinking feeling I get when I have to explain a joke to to someone... Jokes are never funny after pages of analysis.
My BMI is like 20.8. Until recently (3 years ago), I was underweight for all of my life. Though my weight gain has been muscle mass chiefly. I'm still really skinny though :S
I reckon I have a pretty high metabolism. I don't exercise consistently at all (though my job is physical at times) but no matter what I eat, it's like I have anti-adipose cells in my body or something. I'll have to ask my doctor next weekend; yearly physical is coming up.
On a video gaming note, loaded up Megaman X4 on my Gigabyte Brix to emulate PSX games on my TV. Man, I totally forgot how intense the X series were. Never beat X5 or X6. Time to play catch up.
My BMI is anywhere from 35.0 to 37.6. I haven't weighed myself in a few months, so I don't really know for sure.
Well according an online BMI calculator my BMI is 35.6. I'm 6ft 5in and I weigh 300 lbs so yeah. Although I don't look obese. I have really broad shoulders and am tall enough for it all to spread out a tad and a bit of it is muscle as well.
@garrlker
That's because you have high muscle mass. Weight can be gained either through muscle or fat. BMI assumes that it's through fat and that you have average (a.k.a. low) muscle mass. A safe assumption for most people but it results in a significant loss of accuracy when that's not the case. In your case I would measure your body fat % and use that instead to determine if you need to lose weight. While you definitely have a lot more muscle than the rest of us your ideal weight would be around 180 lbs for that height. And I doubt all 120 of those extra lbs is muscle.

I understood the joke, it just wasn't amusing to me. My "wtf" was more concerned with your idea(s) that you were posting about.

This has the same problem as your previous post. You're being extremely vague. You still haven't really explained what it is that you're trying to do or how. "A forum not on a website" could mean any number of things.
Fwiw, BMI calculators are bunk if you want accurate results. It's quick and dirty. Electrical impedance is what they had at our high schools (a handheld machine, worked in about 10 seconds), and that's a much better picture. But if it's clear that you're underweight or overweight, even BMI calculators will tell you that.

I think I could get around 250-270lbs if I tried but no way could I get to 180lbs. I haven't weighed that little since I was in 8th-9th grade.
Thanks for the info though, I'd like to eat healthier but right now I'm capped at 140 bucks a week and nothing in my area is healthy and remotely cheap.
Plus I have to feed me, my girlfriend and our two dogs(Although they don't cost much to feed) and that would be hard to stretch even if there were cheap options here.
