Quote: It's called Mass Blaster! You control two ships at the same time. The story is basically Triangles vs Squares Tongue but it works.
I'm not so good as a musician, so press M to mute any sounds you might find "unattractive."
Well that was pretty addictive. Really liked the music and sound effects. Reminds me of the old-school consoles.
I've quickly scanned the code and it looks alright but it lacks proper indentation. You also have some unnecessary checking though.
if (hit == true) instead of if (hit)
I'm sure you already know though.
Does Gamebox Productions still exist?
Quote:Have fun beating the "Hard" and "Damn..." difficulties; the latter even got my heart racing a couple of times.
That sounds like a challenge.
I'll definitely give it a try.
Kinda hard to play with two hands though.
Quote:How's yours coming along?
Still at the same part I 'stopped' before. Not sure how to continue (yet) with my implementation.
I do have a rough idea of what I want, but I'm not sure how to wire it 'correctly'.
By the way, I'm thinking of creating a
Programming Discussion thread of some sort so we can all focus on programming related talk without 'losing' the topic (hopefully).
That way we can easily read about one subject instead of different random opinions and statements.
Initially I was thinking of a Game Development thread, but I think that's too specific for our small community.

You going to get it?
that was the point, I want it to be 50% off :3
fffffuuuuuuu :3
You mean FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU (F7U12). Ive told ED2 enough times about incorrect rage, and I don't want to start a recurring thing with you too.
@Garteal - There are a couple of other design problems in Mass Blaster! (MB for short) it basically crams all of the code via headers into a single .cpp file. It's not very manageable, especially since none of the input logic in source.cpp is separated. My latest project actually compiles separate .cpp files and links it together in the end. Made a custom script (too lazy to learn CMake or make). Also, MB uses way too many global variables via the "var" namespace. I've reduced this to about two in my RPG :p I used to like checking booleans with == true since it was more immediately apparent what I was checking, but I've changed that too (laziness really, less to type). I'm pretty sure the indenting is correct in the latest version (first version had none iirc) I use tabs rather than spaces.
EDIT: GameBox Productions was just a name I made up for my one-person team. I think the name is already taken, but I'll be back soon.
Do start a Programming thread. I was going to do so last week, but I got busy actually programming. Hopefully we both can showcase our games some time
Is your game supposed to crash and close itself as soon as it says reach 70 points to advance? If it stops running then, I can see why some of us are struggling to win.
Odd, that wasn't supposed to happen. You did extract all of the files correct? I've tested it on Windows before and it runs fine. It's been a while though. Which difficulty mode did you try?
EDIT: Just booted up the family comp, downloaded MB and played it myself (looks like you chose the Easy difficulty ^^) The game will crash if it can't find the "Levels" folder with all of the appropriate .lvl files. It loads them only after you select a difficulty mode. That's the only way I can reproduce your crash on my end.
Well I extracted the archive and ran the .exe. I clicked easy, and it disappeared. Surely this isn't supposed to happen.
Make sure you don't move the executable anywhere. It needs everything to be where it is when you first extract it. I'll compile a version with more debugging info that you can run later.
EDIT: Does it crash when you try any other difficulty? If not, I think the problem was that the Easy.lvl file wasn't converted to UTF-8 properly. If you want to do it yourself, just open it up in Notepad, Save As and set it to UTF-8. Or see the attachment (rename it to .lvl though)
