Are you kidding? $470/mo. is barely enough for rent alone. I would starve to death on that, literally. I can think of plenty of ways to spend that kind of money. Imagine how much I could pimp out my saltwater tanks if I could spend that much on them every month.
Well, it's $710/mo if i were living on my own. Which i'm not. My monthly bills amount to $7.
I suppose if you really truly could not think of any way to spend it on yourself (which I find completely absurd) you could donate it to the dolphin team. Or you could get into the wonderful hobby of reef keeping. It's like gardening but slower, more difficult/time consuming, and way more expensive.
Or paintball.
Or high end computer hardware.
Or build an HTPC.
Or build a pond.
Or scuba diving.
Etc.
Literally every hobby I have is expensive. And I think that goes for most people.

Yeah, independent. That's it.
No, i'm 22 and have never had a job. I'm used to living with no money whatsoever, so i've gotten so well at entertaining myself without spending any money, that there's not really anything i want. At least, nothing that doesn't cost too much to ask for.
Actually i recently started the process to get on SSI, and i'm kind of scared about what i'll even do with the money. You can't have more than $2000 in savings or you no longer qualify, and it's like $470/mo. Not sure how i will spend all that, once i've needlessly upgraded my computer.
Seriously? There is a ton of stuff you could try, go on a trip, buy clothes, accessories, stuff for your room, try outside activities and get out more. And something tells me that your mother was sad seeing you not very active and with some goal in mind, you have to live your life not merely exist.
Ps: Sorry if i sounded a bit harsh in what i said.

Last time I checked, paper and pens were dirt cheap. I can't really break the bank writing short stories. :p
After that there's reading (books/magazines are cheap too, relatively speaking compared to games). Even gaming isn't that expensive because I don't usually buy more than 1 new game a month. My PC and my emu-console are the only expensive purchases I really make, and I don't expect to upgrade those until another few years.
Programming is free thanks to FOSS (even if you counted my PC as a cost of doing programming, I could always resort to something cheap, like the RPi).
Manga is basically "there" on the internet to read as well.
So my hobbies aren't that expensive. Guess I'm just not most people then

Nope, can't give it away either.
I mean, i'm sure i can find something to do with maybe $3000-4000, for computer parts, a new chair, some $500 headphones, and other overpriced garbage i don't need. But after that...idk.
The only hobby i have that costs any money at all is video games, and that's mostly free too. I don't really play too many games anyway.
Quote:go on a trip
I was thinking about a trip to japan, but idk, i'm a baby, and would be afraid to do that by myself.

hah.

We're paying a security company who send people over, he was changed immediately.

Find a random expensive object type and start a collection. Random suggestion: silverware.
Or be me and collect all the (old[-ish]) games!
Build a load of CAD machines from consumer-grade parts. The thing I most frequently think about and then stop thinking about because it costs silly money is various CAD machines. I wouldn't even use them, but I'm just always disappointed by the fact that they're not a thing people can have.
I'm weird, aren't I?
