What's even more cool is that the guy (Byuu) is a genius with his Nintendo Multi System Emulator bsnes which BTW is gonna be called
higan in v092
He's my idol and true hero in the emulation scene and have changed my way seeing things and I love his philosophy and work.
When I want a real authentic SNES experience it's this guy's emu I use.
But his collection is nothing compared to my Japanese SNES collection
Which BTW isn't every game made but just the top notch from the greatest era of all time.
I see you've got Estopolis I and II (better known as Lufia over here), all of the Mega Man games (X1-X3, MM7, Rockman & Forte. Let's just ignore that one soccer game...) Very impressive. No Star Ocean? Chrono Trigger?
Makes me want to start a collection. IIRC James Rolfe has a super collection of NES games, only a few games are actually missing from it.

I'd recommend you to do that because I started collecting games basically with my first allowance way way back and haven't stopped yet.
It's one of my favorite hobbies.
Edit: BTW that ain't a soccer game, I don't have a soccer game? If it's the game with the Buddha like figure at the bottom second right that's SkyBlazer (Karuraou) lying next too Akumajou Dracula XX which is a platform game and as far away from being a soccer game.
Hmm... I kinda like the sound of that. I'm an RPG fan, so I might just build up my library and have fun playing the games as well
Quote:i don't understand how one could not like Portal 2
Agreed. I can't think of anyone bad about it other than the difficulty and length both being rather low. But then there is all the extra content made by the community which fixes both of those problems.
Quote:The only people I know who didn't think it was the greatest thing ever have really weird taste in games.
A lot of people like it but it certainly isn't "the greatest thing ever" in my book.
Quote:I'm with you on Portal. I played through the first game and it was enjoyable for a while, but by the time I was done, I didn't want to play it or another game like it again. After the first one, I got the idea behind it and I didn't need to see any more.
Seems like you just don't like amazing puzzle games, interesting environments, interesting characters, and fresh gameplay mechanics for some bizarre reason. You weren't interested in seeing any of the new puzzle mechanics in the second title? The second was very story driven and had lots of interesting characters which the first game was missing. The environments, level design, and gameplay mechanics were all vastly improved. And overall the second one felt like a big budget title (because it was) whereas the first game felt like it was made by a small team on a very limited budget (because it was).
How anyone could end portal 1 and not want to continue just because they felt that they have "done it before" is beyond my comprehension.
Quote:Half-Life 2 is just a really good game. Maybe you had to have played it when it was new to really enjoy it and be amazed by what it was, but the game still holds up very well with its graphics and gameplay even today. So, get yourself a copy of HL2, set all the graphics settings to their highest and play it. I'm sure you will have a good time with it and enjoy what it has to offer.
It's the Seinfeld of video games. A product of its time that was amazing when it released due to its creativity/originality but its success caused everyone to copy it to the point where now it seems like just another bland shooter compared to today's titles. I can't bring myself to replay it.
Quote:2 expanded on 1 with better puzzles etc, but the 'magic' was gone and it just felt stale to me.
Please define this "magic" for me. The biggest thing I missed from portal 1 that portal 2 didn't have was the feeling of being hunted. Other than that I really can't think of anything that was better about the first title.

Go for it man! It's never too late starting a game collection.
But one thing you need though is luck and good connections because some rarity's are dead hard to find and sometimes it's just about being at the right place at the right time.

Thanks for the encouragement
I was thinking about collecting contemporary games rather than trying to find old ones. Eventually, these games will be hard to find, so why not buy them now? That way I can enjoy them while they're fresh, then admire them later. Plus it's fun trying to guess which games will be cult-classics later on in their life.
Guess I already have a couple for the DS (TWEWY and Knights in the Nightmare). I even have the audio CD for Knights in the Nightmare (more swag).

Towards the end of the game I was like, I get it, use your two portals to find a way out of the room. It seemed to get monotonous doing the same thing room after room. It actually felt like a job that I didn't want to do anymore and the only reason I continued was because I've come this far. I never did play the second game, but nothing in the first game made me want to. Normally a game would grab you and you would feel compelled to play the next one, but this didn't happen for me, so I didn't.
Maverick Hunter X == Duke Nukem?
That, or you killed MH X and stole his stuff. I'm not sure how to evaluate either...
