Last I checked most N64 roms converted to VC injects have terrible compatibility even on a real wii. Only the "official" VC games seem to work well (which is a tiny fraction of the N64 library).

Check out m64p. It usually gets top honors ->

Near (bsnes author) is working on N64 emulation, like every day. Eventually we should see something come out of Ares. A couple of other people are doing N64 emudev on Discord, so the next year or so should see a lot more change. Personally excited about Ares. Thinking every day about an emulator that abandons all plug-ins and never has to worry about encountering a problematic game due to poor emulation or lack of accuracy.
BTW, NaturalViolence, remember that huge post I made years ago, comparing a bunch of N64 games in PJ64 and Mupen64Plus? That was forever ago, feels like. I recall having a blast doing all that testing. Except for playing Glover (which was hell even on the original hardware).
Yeah, mupen64plus is the best now.
m64p is a great stand-alone app for it.
Personally I use the Retroarch core to add a CRT Royale shader.

Nope, but then again I barely remember anything that was ever said around here considering I haven't been active in years.

I got curious and wanted to read it so I found it:

Yeah, it was
this post that technically started it, where I said I didn't know where people thought Mupen64Plus wasn't as capable as PJ64. Then I volunteered to test a bunch of games to prove how solid Mupen64Plus was at the time.
Nowadays, a lot of folks avoid PJ64 altogether. I remember there being a kerfuffle about some bloatware being part of the installer a while ago, dunno if that's still the case. N64 emulation has definitely improved over the years. It's still not nearly as "perfect" as other consoles, but I think we're on our way there, as long as folks like Near and Dillon are working on their own projects. There are still some signs of life in CEN64; hopefully it gets back on track too.
Is Near's N64 emulator supposed to be cycle-accurate like BSNES/Higan, or is that going to remain the realm of CEN64?
I guess it's supposed to be cycle-accurate. I'll have to look it up (or just ask Near whenever). I try to keep up with some of his stuff on Discord, but there's a lot of check some days.
AFAIK mupen64plus + ParaLLEI RDP can eat almost every n64 game with non-existent to minor bugs. I would say n64 emulation is excellent now, even better than a lot of other 3D machines.
