Yes, I'd expect a fair share of hype and hyperbole surrounding Vulkan as it relates to Dolphin. The speed-ups might be real, I'm hoping at least. I barely have any knowledge of OpenGL 2.1 (shaders? what are those? I dunno), so I can't say anything about Vulkan, personally.
Even so, I'm closing all API psuedo-speculation threads. Until we have something in our hands, or someone has gotten down and dirty with New Technology #XYZâ„¢, it's all pointless for the purposes of these forums.
Lol much hating being flung around here.
Any who. Did you guys see how dx12 was going to utilize memory from all gfx cards in a crossfire or sli setup even if the cards are from different vendors!!!
God i hate the flu, every year the same for half a month at least to fully recover. We are also 6 people in the house and everyone gets sick which gets ridiculous with so many sick in the same place.

Considering AMD takes so long to support new OpenGL version, one HAS to wonder how long it will take them to support an entire new API.

Pay no mind to it. Â That's just my way sometimes.

I hate to say it but this is another headline that is being carelessly thrown around the tech news sites and forums to build hype (and ad money from page views) based on misrepresentation of information. Â They make it sound like you just have to flip a switch. This is technically now possible when it wasn't before because of the low level access to memory resources that d3d12 will give (as are many other interesting things) but it still requires application developers to write the entire app around it. Â Considering the amount of work required, the very limited potential benefits, and the extremely small userbase that it would effect in any way I highly doubt any AAA dev studios will implement it. Â The scene would have to be divided into equal workloads for this to work. Â And considering how AFR is still way more popular than SFR simply because it avoids having to do this and all of the associated problems (poor alu usage and shader compatibility) what do you think the chances of this happening are? Â
Using cards from different vendors simultaneously sounds like a nightmare to program around.

(No shitty AMD OpenGL driver anymore, they would need to start from scratch for Vulkan)
Remember how easy it was for them to write d3d10 drivers after it came out? Â Remember how stable they were? Â Guys? Â GUYS!?!

Considering how low level it is, the similar things they were implementing over the last few years, and their close work with microsoft over the last few years I actually think this will be an easier transition for them than past APIs.

Everyone knows that bigger is badder! Europe knows this, which is why it's digging so hard to find something to pin on Google! It's not Nvidia or Google took the leadership positions because they were better than the competition or anything, that's just crazy talk. They are in the lead so they did something evil!

I mean, there's no other way.
look at them and their ability to coast by on almost nonexistent support, badly-made drivers, and rushed releases! To do that they must be doing something evil, definitely not related to the fact that their competitor was slammed unredeemably for a history of exactly what nvidia are doing right now but worse! (poor support and drivers with mostly attempts to cover up instead of correct when an issue is pointed out)
How feasible would it be to have a list in Dolphin of all (or most) of the MD5 sums, so that when the MD5 sum of a game is computed Dolphin will say if the sum is correct or not?
