Why would you jump to that conclusion? Do you think we'd just spend that much without even knowing what its for? That's a little insulting, honestly. :/
Plus, look at my signature. :3
Anyway, we're going to use it to offload code compilation and 3D rendering, tasks it will chew through with glee! Especially compilation, since my boyfriend is compiling code CONSTANTLY! We will have a good GPU (not the 2080, the 1080) in it for occasional gaming (via in home streaming), but it's not for that.
Nah, I didn't mean to insult you. Just my usual me. Don't worry. I am just being awkward in these kind of situations
.
Honestly, I don't care. You guys are doing amazing, and I am sure you know what's best to spend the funds on. I am just being me, as usual, trying to have a bit of sarcasm and fooling around a bit, as usual. Just trying to start a discussion from time to time, even if it leads to me debating way more than I should.
I wouldn't buy stuff either without knowing what it is good for.
Um ok.
But I guess it could be a little confusing since I said it after mentioning plans to buy a 2080Ti. ┐(^~^)┌ But those are unrelated. The turing card will be for the 8700k system, our gaming PC/high performance workstation.
I think I skip the next CPU and GPU series for now. Last year I already upgraded. My i5-8600k and GTX 1070 should suffice more than enough to last a few years. My previous i5-4430 and GTX 660 did so too.
Nevertheless it is always exciting to see what the next generation CPUs and GPUs hold in store for us in the future. I still remember the days I had an Intel Pentium with only a single core... Eventually I got 2 cores. Last year I had 4 cores. Now I am already up to 6 cores. Let alone 32 cores.
I do apologize if I insulted you as that was never my intention. It never is my intention, what good would it do me?
So if the tweet about the Threadripper is from SonicAdvance and you're talking as if it's between you and your boyfriend, does that mean that you're a couple and therefore we now have confirmation that people on this forum know each other in real life? That's not what the internet's for! It's really confusing when internet people are also real people. For example, it bothered me for weeks when there was that video going around of two guys who'd hacked a real Wii to do netplay and I was sure I recognised one of them, but couldn't find anything that he'd done that I'd heard of. It was only resolved when I realised that he was one of the people marking first and second-year student's Java work at uni, and the recognition had nothing to do with Dolphin.
