So i oc'd my hd 3100's memory from 400MHz to 850MHz.
My memory speed however has not changed but when i check amd gpu clock tool it always says 850MHz.
Can messing with oc's make your internet stop working on that computer?
Just made my hd 3100 go to 989MHz and GPU-Z confirmed it!
And i fixed the internet problem.
That post doesn't make any sense. The ATI 3100 doesn't have dedicated video ram. It uses main memory. So did you mean that you overclocked the system memory or the core clock of the IGP? The stock core clock is 350MHz. Did you check your temperatures?
I have trouble believing you overclocked 400 MHz ram to 850MHz so I'm going to assume for now that you're actually referring to the core clock of the IGP.

It won't cause networking issues but it can make your system unstable. If the system is too unstable to run any applications without crashing then you definitely won't be able to use the internet on it.
How exactly did you fix it? What was wrong?

I was using clock gen and it actually worked by giving me a 1MHz overclock. I think i overclocked to pci and pcie as well and everything became unstable. The memory didn't really over clock. It's at 384 MHZ and Core is at 989MHz.
I just restarted my computer. The temps are fine. I just bumped it up by 200 MHz and the temperature spiked so i dropped it to 1016MHz. I think that'll be my final overclock.
I am somehow now even more confused that I was before. What did you overclock by 1MHz and why? 384MHz isn't a standard ram clock rate.
What exactly did you do? Can we have screenshots or something to make this clearer?

I tried to bump it up higher but i guess the mobo wasn't compatible. It's at 394MHz. I don't know why it's running at that speed but it is ddr2 so i guess it's basically ddr2 800. Sorry for the confusion. I've been switching between two computers and now i'm using my laptop. The Radeon HD 3100 is in my desktop.
My 3100 is better then to 3470 in every way except for bandwidth.
The 3100 and the ram that you're talking about are both on your desktop correct? Most of your statements still don't make sense given what I know so far.

Yes. GPU-Z says my gpu has a Texel and Pixel rate of 4 gtexels and 4 gpixels.
A 3470's Texel and Pixel rate are 3.2 gtexels and 3.2 gpixels.
I believe my ram is ddr2 800 it might just be Cpu-z displaying it wrong.
Well check what ram you have. Open it up and read the label. Then look it up online.
Keep in mind that the 3470 has more than twice the memory bandwidth and is likely still going to be significantly faster.
Now that this is settled it's time for you to remove my confusion by answering the many questions I now have:
DatKid20 Wrote:So i oc'd my hd 3100's memory from 400MHz to 850MHz.
In other words you overclocked your ram from 400MHz to 850MHz?
DatKid20 Wrote:My memory speed however has not changed but when i check amd gpu clock tool it always says 850MHz.
What?
What "AMD gpu clock tool" are you talking about?
DatKid20 Wrote:Just made my hd 3100 go to 989MHz and GPU-Z confirmed it!
But is it stable?
DatKid20 Wrote:And i fixed the internet problem.

DatKid20 Wrote:I was using clock gen and it actually worked by giving me a 1MHz overclock.
A 1 MHz overclock to what? Why would you only overclock by 1 MHz?
DatKid20 Wrote:I think i overclocked to pci and pcie as well and everything became unstable.
Explain. Did you change the base clock of your cpu?
DatKid20 Wrote:The memory didn't really over clock. It's at 384 MHZ and Core is at 989MHz.
Like I said that's not a standard speed so either something is wrong or those aren't the stock settings. Are you sure this isn't DDR2 667 MHz (333 MHz) ram overclocked to 768 MHz (384MHz)?
DatKid20 Wrote:The temps are fine. I just bumped it up by 200 MHz and the temperature spiked so i dropped it to 1016MHz. I think that'll be my final overclock.
What were the temps? How did you test them? Have you checked to see if the IGP is stable under full load?

Okay time to answer a whole bunch of questions. I thought I oc'd my memory but nothing really happened.
AMD GPU clock tool . My internet wasn't working and i fixed it by restarting my computer. I tried to overclock higher but it didn't work. Like i said it only went up 1MHz and i don't know why. When i overclocked in the AMD GPU clock tool the memory speed didn't change according to CPU-z. I played some Jedi Academy and it didn't crash. I'll have to get exact measurement later but the air coming from the fan is around the same temperature of the room. The ram is made by Nanya.
When I go to sleep tonight I hope I wake up in the 60's tomorrow. Then I could experience the 60's, 70's and the 80's full grown and see what all the talk about things being better in the past was all about.
Sure I'm born 85 and had some fun years in the 90's before everything got worse, but that was as a kid. There's so much of what my parents and relatives have experienced and told me about that I too want to experience. Damn by the way they talk, things may actually have been better in the past.
21st century SUCKS!!!!!!!
