Don't get me wrong here, I really do like Dark Souls, I even play it on the PC but without the help of some mods it almost isn't playable for me. The console version is fine as it is.
Dark Souls is an extremely polished game. It does suffer from a technical standpoint (limited PC options, etc), which they've already mentioned prior to making the port.
It is
extremely polished but does suffer from a technical standpoint? How does that make any sense?^^
Also them mentioning it beforehand doesn't make it more polished.
Quote:In addition to that, it was the first time they created a game for the PC. I don't see how it isn't playable without mods. The game runs perfectly fine without any mod.
It
almost isn't playable for me in its original state because:
- The mouse cursor is constantly visible even though it serves no purpose during gameplay, which is extremely irritating
- The resolution is limited to a crappy console level, which looks awkward on a decent PC monitor.
- There is no AA which makes the above point even worse
- The framerate is locked at 30 (okay, that isn't THAT bad)
- It had some weird sound issues (though some patch seems to have fixed that
- A lack of options in general
I'm sure I forgot something, but those are the main points why I think the PC port is NOT polished. Though it's not the worst PC port I know of^^
Just to reiterate, I really like Dark Souls, but without mods like DSfix the PC version is kinda crappy.
Sharp presented 8k display last year (CES 2012) . How could i missed that ! Damn , this is madness

I think the main problem we have here is the semantics you used. Now that you've elaborated a bit, you have valid points for the game not being playable to you.

It obviously isn't a polished port due to time and money constraints. But the (core) game itself is polished. It's the same game the PS3/360 has.
And yes, it is one of the worst ports, but you can't blame them for it as they had 0% experience with developing for PC's, little time and a ridiculously small budget. ($15000 or so)

The PC port is much better than the PS3/360 games if you have a decent rig, capable of handling it at 30FPS.
The console versions suffer a lot from framerate issues. (Have fun with 8FPS in Blighttown
)
Well that was unexpected. Resident Evil: Revelations, which was a launch title for the 3DS is now coming to the PS3, 360 and PC!
The game will come shortly after Resident Evil 6 and will be released in North America on May 21st and Europe on May 24th 2013.
Just for clarification, if I say an insult, it can usually be assumed that it wasn't intended to be insulting, but as some kind of un-funny joke. Sometimes I forget that tone-of-voice can be misinterpreted from text.
I never knew people enjoyed milking cows so much.
So I went to GameStop to pick up a copy of Fire Emblem: Awakening. Some kind of "shipping error" delayed the launch (I work in shipping, so I can imagine how mix-ups happen). Came back Friday when they said it would be in for sure. Apparently they and Best Buy were sold out. I don't trust digital downloads enough (wait for a 3DS emu to back it up) so I said forget it; I'll pick it up next month (or never, not too sure I'm into the game). Time to finally play and beat Star Ocean 2 then.
Someone type something in this thread ASAP. After that person has posted, no-one post anything until I've carried out my plan.
[Edit:] Nevermind, due to some silly numbering, I need there to be 11 more posts, not 1.
@dEnigma
When I said polished I was referring to bugs and design (mostly design). With the exception of the mouse issue all of the things you listed are graphics issues (I wouldn't even call them issues since they're just not taking full advantage of PC hardware). Dark souls is a game that is difficult, but not due to bugs or poorly designed mechanics, enemies, or levels. That was the point that I was trying to make.
