Best of all, this isn't even cable. This is wifi.
And it's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than my old shitty DSL with 3mbit down
Unless your wifi network hardware isnt that great, I don't understand why your internet speeds would be lower, since most recent standards provide bandwidths well beyond what almost any ISP can provide.
-Also, I hate how ISPs are always stingy about upload bandwidth.

The actual connection to the provider is wireless, I meant.

Yeah, weird. And yet I'm not the only one with a 3:1 down/up ratio around here - when everyone was posting their speeds some pages ago, I think some people had an even better ratio. (And I'm not talking about those with 1Mbps down and 0.5 up.)
I guess it really depends on your ISP, area, etc.
Edit: Also people usually care a lot more about download speeds, so ISPs will do their best to maximise that. Whereas upload is less of a priority.

This. They only have so many frequency bands/channels to give out. They dedicate most of them to downstream traffic instead of upstream because they figure that's what consumers actually want and that's the speed that gets advertised to them. Makes sense given that the sales data backs this up and consumers are more likely to consume than produce content so you would expect them to use a lot more downstream bandwidth. The world is changing though. More and more people are using "the cloud" for storing their files and accessing their services. Which requires a lot of upstream bandwidth. So if it catches on enough it might force ISPs to start rethinking their downstream:upstream ratios.
Also it helps force server owners to pay more for a business account to get the upstream bandwidth that they so desperately need.
I also have new internet now. And it comes with a non-shite router.
My utility bill seems unusually high..
Earlier this year during winter I got hit with a $244 bill. What's odd about that is I live in a relatively small mobile home. Most light bulbs are energy efficient, besides the refrigerator the only electronic stuff I have running is my computer, air conditioners (2x 5,000 Btu) if it's hot. I sometimes use the microwave, toaster or toaster oven but stuff is unplugged as soon as I'm done using it. At night I have a box fan running because white noise helps me sleep and drowns out other sounds. I usually only have one or two lights on at night but all lights off when I sleep. My parents have a home that is around 2x larger. They have lights on, refrigerator, large screen tv, multiple computers, freezer, washer and dryer, central air and other stuff. My $244 bill earlier this year was about as much as their highest bill, about ten dollars short to be exact. I'm not even using a fraction of what they use, their electricity usage and gas usage exceed mine. I was looking at my bill and my electricity usage recently doubled and I haven't been using much more. I am using air conditioners but only during the day when it's hot and they go off at night.. They have temp control so the compressors don't constantly run, I haven't been using the A/C as much and will open windows and/or keep the A/C on fan mode when it's cool enough outside. I've been turning off my computer at night when I go to bed. My usage and bill recently doubled what it should be for no apparent reason. There's no reason I should be paying nearly as much as my parents given how little I run. It seems as if the meter is faulty or someone is tapped into my electric or something else is going on.
How do I calculate what my computer, monitor, surround sound uses in dollars per month based on the hours per day I run it? I had an 800w psu but now it's a 750w psu, OC'd i7 950, 2x GTX 460's superclocked, 2x Hitachi Deskstar 2TB hdd, Toshiba 2.5" 320GB hdd 6GB Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600 Ram, Asus Sabertooth X58. Most likely hardware doesn't matter and should focus on the psu but listed just in case. What is the wattage per hour or kwh for just my computer tower? I'm so paranoid I'll have a high bill beyond what I can afford when my usage doesn't justify it. Unexplainable high bills and inadequate income are to blame for delaying my dream of an upgrade. This place could be weatherized but still my furnace isn't kicking on any more than my parents. It's a relatively new furnace so it should be more efficient energy wise. I'm thinking of calculating everything to see what the proper usage should be then switching the breaker to see it the meter is still rolling. It seems I may need to have the utility company investigate and have someone do an energy audit.
Edit: Anyone know what kwh on and kwh off is, what's the difference? Also wanted to say I hear funny sounds coming from my fridge occasionally.
It might be related to you writing so much text.
Sorry for trying to explain and asking a question. :/
Get used to it, not all posts are going to be one sentence one off replies. Perhaps I shouldn't use spacing, punctuation and paragraphs and maybe that would be better? I can't tell anymore if you are just trying to be funny/sarcastic or harass me. I'm just telling you it's becoming annoying, here and on the Steam forums. What next.. are you going to follow me to other forums I post at just to respond to me with snide remarks? Not even a long read and if you have an issue feel free to join the ranks of member(s) currently ignoring me and annoyed by me. Fix'd (sorta) & btw 2paragraphs2much2read4u? Not trying to be rude and no harsh feelings just stahp already is as polite as I can put it. I'm a very patient and laid back person but even I have limits and you wouldn't keep poking at a sleeping bear without the expectation of it eventually biting back would you?
Your post lacks any indication of friendly sarcasm or humor. It comes off as mocking and condescending as does several other posts of yours in response to me. Perhaps you could offer suggestions i.e. constructive criticism as to how I could simplify and shorten my posts?
Just saiyan.

Here, all you're saying is that your energy bill was slightly higher than you expected. You want to know how you can find out how much your pc consumes and how you can lower your energy bill.
Well yeah that works too but I felt it necessary to mention additional details like how high my bills are and the fact my parents have a home twice the size of mine and run televisions, wii, multiple computers, central air, electric water heater, freezer, refrigerator, lights, use more gas. I'm trying to grasp why my bill is about as much or as much as theirs for what little I run in comparison. When I got hit with a $244 bill last winter I ran nothing but my computer, fan overnight, refrigerator, hot water tank (gas), furnace (gas) and turned on one light at night. Everything was shut down or unplugged at night sans the fan and stuff I have no choice but to leave running.
