The name, the design, ugh...
Isn't that a very bad design choice that the cooling grids are positioned on top of the console ? It's like a VIP invitational for dust to get into it.
You've got fans blowing the dust in the exact opposite direction to that. Lots of PC cases have vents on the top with fans blowing out, and that's definitely not where the dust gets in.
So I kind of think that Microsoft saw how people are putting Switch consoles "on display" (putting the dock in easy reach) and was like, we want our console on display too! So they designed it so it wouldn't physically fit into AV gear shelves to force users to put it on top and "on display" like a Switch. Of course it makes no sense since you don't need to remove this Xbox from its place and put it back easily, but you know.
Also Microsoft seems to be in a competition with themselves for most confusing console names.

Maybe they took it down? It was super early. Well, whatever, it was gamespot anyway! This should be better.

Yeah it's Wii U-level of bad name. Slightly confusing too from One X to Series X, but lucky for them, the confusion award has already been won by Square Enix with the Bravely Series (in only 3 games)...
I wonder how many people will be putting things like books on-top and then blame the console for over-heating...
It's far from the first device to have a vent on top, so it's not going to be much different from any other device with a vent on top. Plenty of people have killed consoles with a vent on top by putting something else on top, so we know it'll happen again with this. The only change is that the thing on top is unlikely to be a DVD player, other console, or the next shelf in the TV cabinet.

I'm waiting for 3 tiers of games, xbox one, xbox one x and xbox one x series, and xbox one series but not xbox one x. This would top the wii u confusion. Or they choose the alternative and require an xbox one x series, where the xbox one x would be sufficient. Imagine how angry gamers would be at something like that.
If i was them, i'd go with xbox one x2 for the next one, so games can clearly state they run on all xbox one, or xbox one x and up or xbox one x2 and up. But i don't think that would actually work. If i remember correctly, they plan to release different models right at the start of the next gen. I got no idea how to name that properly in a way that also sounds good.
Well, I guess it's this time of the year again... So...
