Meh, What can I say. I'm a fan of long blocks of text. Like the good old days of medieval books :p My brain's pretty good at picking up when the author changes the topic (assuming he or she can write properly).

Yeah. I swapped them cause it wouldn't make sense otherwise.
Have you tried it out?
If you're desperate about vertical space, then it's very good. And it's very readable. Not sure why you think its awful.
Consolas
Proggy
1. It looks bad. Really really bad.
2. It barely saves any space.
3. Greater vertical resolution is obviously a much better solution.
4. Why are you using notepad++ you filthy plebeian. Why are you not using microsoft's glorious gift to mankind visual studios?
1. Explain? I'm going to guess you have something against aliased fonts. Either that, or your monitor is making you see things again.
2. Like I said, if you need the space there's always the option to.
3. Naturally. But this is a free solution.
4. I do have VS, and I naturally use that for C++ programming. This was just to show you the difference.
I had to actually google plebeian as I never heard that word before. Urban Dictionary says:
Code:
plebeian
1. Of or someone of lower mental capacity moron
2. Someone of lower social rank trash
All I know is it looks awful. It's like looking at a horribly misshapen house. The aliasing may be part of that. And it barely decreased the size.

You should have googled harder than. Urban dictionary is wrong. That's not what the word means:

Basically anyone in the roman republic/empire that wasn't rich. The term is often used to mock people for not buying expensive things (in a joking way) or to make fun of people who do this.

That was the first link, and yes I've seen the Wiki page.

Good luck Zee!
NV says 16:9 is a bad ratio for programming, but from my experience, it's better than anything narrower. This may well be affected by the fact that I usually have the top of the class I'm writing to one side so I can see my global variables, or a different program that used a similar method etc.
Also, I proudly say that I use Notepad++. However, this is because I use java, which isn't properly supported by VS. I could have learned something else, but due to how computing as an A level subject is set up, it was learning java where I go, or VB anywhere else, and at least java is used for things.
There are much better IDEs out there for Java. Have you tried Netbeans or Eclipse?
Yeah, you should consider trying out both Netbeans and Eclipse. We're using Netbeans here at school, and it works pretty well. The only big problem is when you create a GUI from the GUI editor and end up with system generated code which you can't change. Other than that, I'd suggest Netbeans.
