They aren't splintering anyone, since it's barely being taken advantage of in any meaningful way. Off the top of my head, there's XBC's port, and some (minor??) stuff they added in MM3D, I can't remember the N3DS being touted anywhere else. Maybe I haven't looked in a while. But this thing screams "DSi" all over again in terms of exclusive retail content. It's much different than the situation with the GBC, at least so far.
I guess, if you don't own a 3DS, you may as well get an N3DS XL. Other than price, there's no compelling reason for the other 3DS models. The head-tracking alone is worth it for some, but I personally keep 3D off. Like always.
'Don't forget Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate.
I bought the N3DS for that alone but unfortunately something about the hardware stinks when it comes to online play. Can't even play online.
I'm assuming the main attraction for MH4U is the additional controls? Makes sense. Still not enough for me to drop that kind of cash
I actually haven't touched my copy of MH3 very much at all. I'm waiting on Citra tbh.

Probably, I was able to put xenoblade in my old 3ds and it showed the picture and stuff.

They didn't even do anything for MM, it just uses the circle pad pro.
I somewhat agree with Datkid20, theres too many 3DS's going around, from XL to 2DS. What's the point of bringing out a brand new model just for an exclusive title? That's a classic fish and bait tactic. I was never into the 3DS to begin with, now 1st gen Gameboy, that's a different story. Nintendo is splintering their audience like this if this keeps going any further, but that's just me.
@cyrax - Nintendo's not making the N3DS a radically different experience though. They've always had various different twists on their handheld lineups, even with the Game Boy (original, Pocket, Light). At this point, I don't really feel left out by owning Old 3DS models. It'd be something else if N3DS exclusives were wide spread. But even with all the models (2DS through N3DS XL) I feel the overall experience is the same (you still get the same games, just with varied levels of 3D). That's just my opinion.

I don't think you'll feel the same after more games start to become N3DS exclusive. It makes 0 sense to make a new console just for one game.
