You're all northerners from where I'm standing.
Haha. In fact, I'm from the north of Spain. The environment is similar to England, but with more mountains, less cold and less shittier summers.

If by B.S. you mean college, then no. I don't have the money (around 1000€ per year + transport) and maths and physics are one of the main reasons I failed at college when I was in Chemistry three years ago.
The first year of what I'm doing is common to two couses. The second year I can change to Multiplatform Application Development. I think that suits more what I expect to learn.

Thanks for the info

About all that 101ms thing, I have to say it was on a german server. The >100ms=kick rule surely was intended so only germans could play, or someone with very good connection. On spanish servers my ping is usually around 80ms. I'm not very angry because I usually prefer single player games. I'm currently playing Deus Ex Human Revolution.

FYI Super Typhoon Usagi headed towards Taiwan. Buy those computer parts now.
Would you take a government subscription if it gave you 1gb download and upload at an affordable American price of say, $50 a month?
Damn that's a fierce Typhoon. I hope the people get to evacuate safely and quickly.
The Steam Universe is Expanding in 2014
Quote:Last year, we shipped a software feature called Big Picture, a user-interface tailored for televisions and gamepads.
This year we’ve been working on even more ways to connect the dots for customers who want Steam in the living-room.
Soon, we’ll be adding you to our design process, so that you can help us shape the future of Steam.
Sounds like the Steambox.

2 year degrees count as college education too. Why did you try chemistry? Why not computer science, software engineering, or electronic engineering?

I'm sure most or all of us here would. But it's not going to happen. Like lamedude said anytime anyone suggests that the government do something productive the right wing shouts "socialism" and that's the end of that. Even when the democrats hold a majority they can't get anything passed because they're always split on issues while the republicans will all vote against whatever they're proposing. Thus they can never get enough votes. People like to think of our political party system as democrats vs. republicans but I prefer to think of it as liberal democrats vs. moderate democrats vs. conservative democrats vs. conservative republicans. The first three groups being a minority in every election.

This is why people need to stop buying beachfront property in areas that are prone to natural disasters (ahem, my state).

Yup. And in 3 days we'll finally know if it's worth caring about.

I was in chemistry because that was what I liked the most at High School. I almost went to computer engineering but I changed my mind at the last moment. Baaaad choice. I realised what I really like two years later.
I don't care about Steambox. Sure, it wil be small and portable, but I prefer a desktop PC. Maybe same price, but a lot more powerful than Steambox (if the rumored $999 price is right).

For a linux box? I doubt it

Just FYI I'm going to have to pay £9000 a year + living costs (including housing, internet, food etc) of £1000-10,000 for University. I do get all this loaned to me, but mainland Europeans have it easier than mainland Europeans think.
Then again, I'm pretty sure it's far more than even this in the US.
Secret to managing college expenses: Go do 2 years or something to that effect at a junior college for GenEds then transfer to college of choice for 2 years.
My loans are for the two and a half years I spent at NIU (the last half was just two classes, not even a full semester). I paid for junior college with my part-time job that I used to work. The problem is finding classes that will transfer (some colleges will refuse to give you credit for something, or give you credit in a different category than you were expecting). Monthly payments on my student loans are actually quite manageable with my current income. I can't imagine almost doubling it if I had gone to NIU from the beginning. My sister's in an art school, so there's no getting around going there for 4 full years. That's gonna bite when she's done in a year and a half.

Kinda like what Verizon promised me.
Even as a .gov needs to GFTO libertarian I would gladly pay that and the taxes needed to build it (provided they go over when it's done, but that never happens). I trust the gov't a bit more than the "We don't care. We don't have to. We're the Phone Company."
