Margret Thatcher was not a nice person. I live in England, and can tell you that my parents are having a "Ding, dong, the witch is dead" party on Saturday. You don't have a party with a derogatory theme for a nice person.
EDIT: words are complicated

What "wasn't nice" about her? Do you know anything about what she did or are you just going by what your parents are telling you?
She was essentially England's Ronald Reagan. Far right wing. She deregulated and privatized everything that she could and tried (sometimes succeeding) to break up several major unions. And of course reduced taxes on the upper class. Just like Reagan her first few years in office were marked by a recession and high unemployment. Conservatives loved her. Everyone else hated her (especially the unions and the labor party). There are plenty of people who have plenty of reasons to hate her. Especially the people who lost their jobs because of her budget cuts. And if you were poor her policies would have virtually eliminated any hope of you elevating your social/economic status.
My physics professor actually moved here because he was so disgusted by what she did to the public education system over there and he knew he wanted to go into public education. And he's one of the most respectable people I know. Not to mention an amazing professor. I'm not saying that this is a reason for me to hate her personally or even have an opinion on the matter. I'm just pointing out that people have valid reasons for hating her. And people today who didn't live under her administration can certainly still hate her policies and beliefs.
I'm going off the fact that she was a reverse robin hood, and didn't try to hide it. Almost no-one in England has a positive opinion of her, yet for some reason, the rest of the world seems to regard her as a hero.
To be fair some people must have liked her in England considering she not only got elected but re-elected.
Well that was one of the most satisfying ninjaings I've ever fallen victim to.
A lot of the less liked things she did were done in her second term.
