Don't forget to grab the free PS5 upgrade for whenever a PS5 is in stock and you can get one. Also they just announced a LEGO Tallneck coming in May, it's 34 cm tall and has an Aloy minifig.
S/M were a slog to play for me, as they pushed the 3DS too far and battles took so long to load/finish. Let's GO was a good holdover, I'd enjoy a Gold/Silver/Crystal version. Sw&Sh were great, the DLC still has me playing it, and it's the first game since RSE that I've naturally completed the Pokedex 100%. BdSp is a 1:1 remake and isn't terrible, they messed up the skill level with the exp share and it's too easy, and the grand underground is fun. And Legends is amazing, I can't stop just running around and exploring.
The one I ordered explicitly says PS5 on it. "Horizon Forbidden West Special Edition - PlayStation 5"
As for Brilliant Diamond, it was alright. It was an old pokemon with some quality of life changes and a new coat of paint, it was okay. The best part of it for me is that I had never played Gen 4 so I got to see a bunch of Sinnoh before heading into Legends, which I'm really happy for. I've had a lot of fun connecting the points on the Sinnoh map with the wilderness of Hisui. It's not horizon zero dawn or breath of the wild type of landmark sleuthing, but it's fun!
Was Gen 4 the only one you skipped playing originally? BdSp could use a few quality of life updates (and a Distortion world DLC) to really make it the definitive version to play
I skipped Gen 4 and Gen 5. After the amazing Gen 2, Gen 3 was disappointing, and Gen 4 looked to be more of the same (after playing Brilliant Diamond, that was correct) so I waited for Pokemon to change before picking it back up. That was Gen 6, thanks to the addition of the fairy type. Gen 6 was great, it's tied with Gen 2 as my favourite traditional Gen (Gen 2 was amazing content wise but it's reeaally rough around the edges), but Gen 7 was just tedious. But Gen 8 has been my absolute favourite gen so far.

Did you also skip the Gen 2 remake in Gen 4? Gen 2 is fantastic, I carry my modded GBC with Crystal around during my work trips, since it's so durable and easy to play anywhere.
Currently waiting for Horizon Forbidden West to finish installing.
I originally skipped some pretty great Pokemon Gens back in the day. I passed on Gen 3 because I was burnt out after my cart battery died in Gold (almost had a full team of my faves at lvl 100). Skipped Gen 5 because I didn't see much of a huge change from Gen 4. Skipped Gen 6 because I was honestly hoping they'd make Pokemon Z and never pulled the trigger on X&Y. I jumped on Gen 7 and 8 right away out of FOMO, can't lie.
Thankfully, I did play most of them later on. I'm still working on Pokemon Y, dunno when I'll pick it back up. It looks and feels amazing in Citra!
Spent like 7 hours on Forbidden West yesterday. So far it's awesome. Just what I'd hoped for. More of the same but bigger and better, if that makes any sense. Really digging these new Valor abilities. And it looks and runs incredible on the base PS4! Really glad the devs made it cross-gen, and they did it so well.
Does anyone here have an opinion on yuzu vs. ryujinx?
For getting the best performance it's a per-game tradeoff to see which handles it the game better.
I personally like Yuzu more from a development aspect since it has more roots in the Dolphin and Citra community.
I beat Pokemon Legends! And did the post game as well. I have to say, it has definitely taken my top spot as favourite pokemon ever. It's pokemon so it isn't perfect, but it's REALLY good, and a huge step forward for the franchise! The core gameplay loop is just more fun than Pokemon has ever been, the story is the best pokemon has ever been (though still not amazing, I mean, it's pokemon), and it has a bit of difficulty to it in a way that Pokemon hasn't had since... the game boy advance at least. My main complaints are that it's a little repetitive, I wish there were more boss fights and more boss fight variety, and probopass is in it. But other than that, it's great, and I'm hella looking forward to what comes next!
Onto Forbidden West!
Sounds like you had a fun journey! Did you see the new Daybreak update that wsa announced this weekend along with the Gen 9 trailer?
I'm about 30 hours into Forbidden West, and it's fantastic. The story, characters, combat, and general gameplay are perfect. The instantaneous load times on PS5 really make it feel next gen
