.. that ICC builds provide virtually no advantage over msvc builds.

Performance-wise, they are exactly the same on my PC (i5-2500k @ 4.4, Radeon HD 6870, 2x4GB 2133 DDR3).

Well, he has an Intel Core i5-2500k @ 4.4 GHz. It's clear, that there is almost no difference with this monster CPU. We need someone with a notebook or a less powerful system
I'm pretty sure, the difference would be bigger.

Uh, not really... (Squall, where are you if your trolling is needed??)
Isnt there suppose to be a speedup for any CPU that supports SSSE3 and 4.2
Squall Leonhart Wrote:no PGO is performed in the build process
AFAIK you can't PGO static libs which is where the all the useful stuff is compiled into for Dolphin. If you want to change all the commons into dlls neo.

Actually yes. But the speed up is negligible in powerful systems - in notebooks and less powerful system should this speedup be more noticeable.
Do ICC builds give any sort of speed boost on AMD machines? AMD machines seem to suffer badly compared to Intel's.
My ICC builds are both optimized for AMD and Intel. Just try it out and choose the build, which works best for you.

I tried out ICC and it seems faster then the regular one. I was able to squeeze enough performance out of Metroid Prime 3 to get anywhere from 50% to 65% speed, on average. In game of course. Bit surprising considering that that I have a Phenom X4 9850 overclocked 500 Mhz to reach 3Gz. Water cooled of course. Just goes to show I gotta start buying Intel processors when it comes time to upgrade my machine again.
Curious though, I remember reading an article that Intels compiler would purposely cripple for AMD machines. Is that still true today? Has anyone ever tried using
AMD's Open64 compiler?
