I am running into a couple issues. I can run the game full speed with crappy sound (missing instruments and the such). OR I can sacrifice speed and sound but have all of the instruments. My rig is this:

AMD Athlon 7850 Dual core 2.8ghz Kuma black edition
Radeon 5770 1gb DDR5
3 gb ddr2 Ram

Is my system just not beefy enough to do both? (have good sound and maintain decent fps that is)

Nope
What would i need to improve? CPU? RAM?
Without a doubt, that would be you CPU. I know for a fact that your graphics card is fine, since you have the same 1 as i have. You need somehing like an Intel Core i5 or i7 overclocked to 4ghz. An AMD Phenom II at 4ghz would probably do the job aswell, but i recommend the Intel ones. Even my AMD Phenom II at 3.4 ghz can't give me full speed in all areas when i use LLE, unfortunately though, because the only times i get slowdowns is if i open a menu with alot of objects on the screen:/
