Like an idiot, I tried to play skyward sword on dolphin on my old computer thinking, oh, it's just a wii game, my integrated GPU can handle it, NOPE.

So I built a new PC. I will be using it for PC gaming, but I want to know how it will perform in Dolphin, I want to do AA and really high resolutions in demanding games like Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword and Wind Waker.

CPU: AMD FX-8350 (8-core 4.0ghz stock)
RAM: Vengeance 8gb 1600mhz stock
PSU: 600w corsair 80+
GPU: GTX 660 2gb factory overclocked
Solid State Drive: 64gb
Mobo: Asus M5A99X EVO R2 AM3+

Doesn't really matter, but I got the CM Storm Scout Case, it looks cool

Will I be able to run everything maxed out? I haven't received the parts yet, they are on their way here.
To anyone who wants to know the specific answer to my question (when I get my parts), I'll post the results when I get them and test them out.

Also I'm short on the money, I'm wondering if I will have to buy the Hyper 212 EVO heatsink or stick with stock, will CPU overclocking be needed to achieve the results I want?

Thanks to anyone who takes time to answer my question Smile
I also am interested to hear what you guys are running in your PC, and how well you are able to run with your specs.
Sorry man, your pc won't be able to run demanding games in dolphin. Your cpu is too slow. With that cpu you can run some games like wind waker pretty fast, but with LLE audio on skyward sword that's a no. It's a very demanding game. If you can send back your parts send back the cpu and mobo and order and i5-4670k cpu with an asrock z87 pro 3.

At 4.2Ghz on an i5 you can run many demanding games with LLE full speed.
Edit: Also, if you can't afford to do that then buy a good heatsink and overclock. That's your only option to get better results.
Look for your cpu on the wind waker benchmark to see how it compares with other cpus.

I'm running HLE Audio (fast) and plan to keep it that way, will that allow me to play demanding games?

lots of zelda ucode games (most first party nintendo games) need LLE audio, if u use HLE the game wont have audio or it can crash. For example Super Mario Galaxy needs LLE. If you overclock you could run some demanding games that use AX ucode with HLE in newer revisions 3.5-1XXX (forgot the number) or later
I'm actually currently playing Wind Waker on HLE on my laptop, it's a dual core 2.4ghz processor, and it's running full speed at 1.5x IR no AA. So Why wouldn't a 8 core 4ghz desktop to be able to do it?

Not to mention it has a GTX 660, and my laptop is running a cheapo Radeon 7400m

Wind Waker is a light game, but u shoud use LLE, because with HLE game could crash randomly. Zelda skyward sword is more demanding but with new AX HLE u dont need LLE any more, Also dolphin can use at most 3 cores with dsp on thread, but norma lly uses 2. Also AMD processors are really bad for dolphin because they have a low IPC (instructions per clock) comparing to intel

The reason I don't use LLE is because it crashes dolphin on startup... we are on opposite ends here. I got the dsp LLE rom, still it crashes. With HLE it has never crashed.
I tried using LLE just now, tried to load my save state, crashed. Every time.

Dont use save states the are really buggy and not safe for saving your progress, use in game saves instead. Also you cannot change DSp emulation mode when loading from save states

Seems to me that just about everyone using LLE is having to sacrifice visual quality, and having major slow downs. Also it seems that just about everyone is fine with HLE, so I will stick with HLE.
As for save states you are right, some can go bad, which is why I do both, save state and real game save, as well as having multiple save states as insurance.

Also my CPU is better than an i5-3570k, so I will not return it because it can't compete with intel in dual core processes, because I also want this PC for gaming, and the 8350 is better than the i5-3570k in just about every way stock by a little, and kills it in overclocking.

Made me lol, intel has had a FAR better IPC for some time now...
