20-25 fps is what you can expect

You won't get more than 60-70% speed

Thank you for help LordVador
A bit of advice - use OpenGL as a backend for Wii games (at least on AMD cards). It will give you a little bit better performance (18-30 fps using OpenGL, 16-25 D3D9).

Also, got a small present for those who doesn't have the wiimote. Very comfortable control scheme, if you ask me:

Performance in different back ends depends on a ton of different factors. The specific series, drivers, games... You really can't make a blanket statement like that
Hello Mates,

I just started using the Dolphin Emulator after I bought the Last Story and saw how horribly it looked. After spending 4 hours straight trying every combination of settings and checkboxes imaginable I was unable to get the game to play anywhere near smoothly. I am running the US version which I ripped myself on a gaming laptop I bought 1-2 years ago. (Asus G53JW i7, GTX460 6GB Ram). I knew the emulator was CPU intensive but I figured my gaming PC (which can run new PC games at Max settings no problem) would at least be able to handle Dolphin at 1x resolution.

Any tips? Is my computer too weak or is it maybe a problem with the emulator? Anytime there is more than a single character on screen the framerate drops to 17 or less. When its just me on screen it rams all the way to 30-35. I can almost put up with the framrate jumping up and down, but the audio is HORRIBLE, especially during cutscenes and boss battles.
I'm afraid TLS is one of the most CPU intensive games to emulate and your hardware just isnt enough to play it at full speed, try these settings for best speed http://forums.dolphin-emu.org/showthread.php?tid=23618

Thank you for your advice, unfortunately if I don't run at least a 4X AA it looks just as bad as the Wii version. I recently ordered a copy of Xenoblade, will it be just as bad as TLS?

Your system is indeed too weak for this game. As Zee30 said TLS is one of the most demanding games. Try to overclock

Not as bad. You'll get decent speed (if you overclock). Not full speed though
He's using a notebook, so overclocking isnt a very good idea, it does turboboost to 3.0GHz but it still isnt enough for this

Ha you're right. I missed this

Yes. It won't be enough
