I don't think anyone's actually certain why. There's a lot of things better about Haswell, but none of them really strike me as reasons it could be 30%+ faster at Dolphin despite being ~10-15% faster at everything else!

I see. Oh well, may want to go ahead and upgrade soon then. I built my current rig for the sole purpose of getting the most out of Dolphin and PCSX2, and now I find out that Ivy Bridge isn't the bees knees. Great.

Also, is there an easy way to force the task to run at high priority? It'd help with scores.

It must be a combination of things.

According to this guy who works on bochs, it's mostly due to the 4th alu(and branch unit), zero latency register moves and other tweaks. Seems like a lot of the new instructions might help a lot too.

Anyway, my G3258 at 4.2GHz finishes in 5 minutes 2 seconds.

I doubt it would make a real difference, unless you're running other programs at the same time, in which case you'd be getting a worse score anyway.
The reasons an emulator is faster might differ a lot from other programs; for example, wider vectors aren't useful for Dolphin.
Umm... why is povray still being used? It's been superceded by a newer benchmark...

The only reason I never made a thread with said new benchmark is because I was holding out for it to possibly be included in the official 5.0 version or whatever the next full version is called.

So, we have one that overclocked it. I think OP will not accept this without screenshot, though.

This just crashes for me on a fresh windows 8.1 installation. I forget what I'm supposed to install to fix this.
