You mean save STATES make controls stop working, which is true, save states for wii are very unstable.

I have a couple of problems that I want to mention with MP3.

First, after disabling copy to efb, I get a black box in the top left quarter of the screen, this is sometimes filled with random screens that tend to freeze in the area. Enabling copy to efb greatly reduces my fps by about 20 fps. I know there may not be a workaround for this but I'm throwing it out there just the same.

Also, after the first few fighting scenes on the ship I reach the area shown in my screenshot. I believe i'm supposed to scan this panel, but am unable to, and therefore can't progress.

Thanks in advance for any tips or advice.

I'm glad you mentioned this issue. It should also be noted that changing the texture hack type while the game is running will clear the top left corner, but that corner will remain very blurry.
Try using EFB Copy to RAM
EFB copies are turned into a texture that is laid over the scene and when you disable the FB copy system, leftover or garbage is going to be there on that texture instead of the copied framebuffer. You need EFB to RAM to have a working scanner, because the game has to read the EFB to see where the scannable objects are located on the screen.
but what he says is true about being enabled. it's still blurry for that corner of the screen. I think EFB isn't scaling properly with the resolution change... I would guess that native resolution is not affected by this..
