Same response as with supporting Windows XP. Anything which does not support 64 bits in 2016 is too weak for Dolphin to run at full speed anyway.
What are some things you would like to see in Dolphin 6.0?

They went to 32 bit in may 2014
https://dolphin-emu.org/blog/2014/05/19/obituary-32bit/ The latest 4.xxx version that had 32 bit was mostly 4.0. 08-12-2016, 09:28 PM
Likely won't happen. The x86 JIT wasn't dropped for no reason. But anyway, if you so want to run Dolphin 5.0 on outdated hardware, you can probably enable the generic build option. Have fun with ~1 fps

I would like to see built-in function that mimics https://github.com/scottrice/Ice (adding game thumbnails to steam and allow to fire it from there) ...
Besides that ... ubershaders (or anything else that will eliminate shader stuttering) ... it's nobrainer And ... maybe to see DX12/Vulkan as new default backends... And ... hmm I Dunno ... think that ubershader itself is big thing

Even if the brought back 32 bit support, with your hardware you won't even be able to play at fullspeed. What is the point of bringing back 32 bit? 32 bit systems are horrible outdated by today's standard. PURGE IT WITH FIRE! Seriously, buy a beter system and stop asking for 32 bit support. It is not coming back, period. No 32 bit system due lack of CPU compatibility is able to run Dolphin smoothly for an enjoyable experience. 08-13-2016, 12:22 AM
That will probably let you play some of the lighter games, but I wouldn't expect too much.
Twilight Princess? Don't even think about that with underpowered hardware. It is one of the more demanding GameCube games available. But let's get back at the topic again, we are sidetracking here it seems. It would be nice if Dolphin could finally fix the Hyrule Minimap issue that is causing the massive slowdowns in Hyrule Field. It will be a glorious day when the Hyrule Field Speed Hack is no longer required.

Right now JITIL is slower and less compatible than normal JIT. JITIL only remains because in some very rare scenarios, it's still better than JIT. But it's intended to be removed as soon as JIT will be completely superior.
As for texture forwarding, even if gaming hardwares share many concepts, 3DS and GameCube are very different machines. You can't apply texture forwarding for GameCube "as it". In fact, Dolphin already implements a similar feature since a long time, which is the combination of 3 settings : "Internal Resolution", "Virtual XFB" and "EFB to texture". But due to GameCube's design being different than the 3DS one, some effects can't be rendered corretly this way and we can't do mush about it. However, Phire is currently working on a "Hybrid XFB" which is hype because it will be way better than "Virtual XFB". Go Phire !
From France with love.

Wait until Hyrule field. Even with the speed hack that is the most demanding area. But since you EFB copies to Texture only can be enabled now without breaking anything in TP does it run alot better one even weaker hardware. My Laptop can run the game just fine with a constant 30fps through the entire game.
Can we have have hotkeys for switching between emulated wii mote orientations? In game like SMG you sometimes have to switch to a different position but it works fine otherwise. Having to exit fullscreen, open the controller config and then checking/unchecking something is really tedious. Having an option to switch between configs on the fly would be neat aswell. And can we have automatic loading of controller configs depending on the game? Having to load the classic layout for SSBB just to switching again when I want to play SMG feels like an uneccesary hassle. |
