And nothing of value was lost.

Ah, the joy of going along a highway somewhere in the countryside in the UK and trying to check google maps for traffic info with only GPRS!
How's the 3G coverage over in the US?

It's the UK. We have traffic. You don't need the internet to find that out.

It's really starting to piss me off how almost every site i visit add in the suffix -Wii U to any Wii U related content they have, it's starting to feel like borderline segregation. It feels like it's telling people that this is a Nintendo product so don't bother with it. I don't know if these are the official experimental names Nintendo have given for these games before they choose an actual one, in which case they should please stop because they're just further degrading the Wii U's reputation or if these sites have taken it upon themselves to point out to it's visitors that this is a Wii U game, in which case they are guilty of console racism or something, this latest Fatal Frame trailer was the last straw

I just decided to try FireFall again, a game which I've had since summer 2012 and used to be a massive supporting player of.
And, by "try FireFall again", I mean ford the great river of shit that is Red5's treatment of their players* - ESPECIALLY VETERAN PLAYERS** - to see if there's actually still an enjoyable experience*** on the other side. Then, once I got to the other side, the river flooded and drowned my whole party. * = they treat players like stupid moneybags which only exist to have their wallets emptied ** = they took an actually-delightful game, turned it over their knee, and began disciplining it for actually being good *** = it actually used to be fun rant on why I hate it so much coming once I calm down enough to stop planning the murder of the entirety of the new Red5 team (extremely few members of the old team which did the game good actually remain; there were a shitload of layoffs, followed by a bunch of hirings, followed by the outing and replacement of the CEO for one who likes money more). EDIT: Ranting time. So, Red5 was doing completely fine before they ran into a bit of Financial Trouble™ and layed off random members of the team. At that point, they rolled out the founder's packs. Tons of people bought these, largely competitive players wishing to get in on the action. They were the most expensive founder's packs I've known to date, with the most expensive being $200, and the least being $60. At this point, development direction started to change. The focus switched from making competitive gameplay more thrilling and enticing, to increasing the size of PvE gameplay. This would be fine on it's own, but they completely abandoned competitive gaming. After setting up eSports kits for Firefall that one must buy if they want to stream competitive Firefall gameplay professionally. "Surely this can't get worse!", oh so many proclaimed as the competitive players started leaving. "PvE will be so great, and not pay to win at all!", oh so many proclaimed shortly before the Redbeans store entered the game. "Oh, they're just giving us the Redbeans store during this slightly off world update that basically cripples the fastest form of movement so that we can party about the new, great PvE update*!", they said. Well, slowly, more and more functional items were added to the Redbeans store. Eventually, an item that was promised to be craftable for free was added to the Redbeans store for a steal of ~$20 in Redbeans. What was it, you ask? Oh, it was just what they planned to replace the fastest form of movement with. Motorcycles that were in the game and fully-functional since the PvE milestone in late 2012, and just not obtainable. "Oh, that's not so bad", you've probably just said. Well, here's a kicker not related to the Redbeans store (coming back to that one later). Red5 decided to start fully redesigning the PvE gameplay which everyone loved as it was, and rolled out the first big update to it that fucked everything up. So, originally, as you played the game, you got experience, which you used to buy blueprints for new parts of your battleframe according to a progression tree. They threw that out the window, and just said "fuck it, this expansion to that system that we promised and have working won't make us enough money", and they made it so that you also needed materials to progress. And then they just entirely did away with the tree system and required that you get absolutely all of the upgrades for your battleframe before moving on to the next battleframe tier. Along with that, they started raising the mineral and XP costs of everything and reducing the amount of XP and minerals you get from doing everything (which were already abysmally low). Guess what you can buy in the Redbeans store for a Really Great Deal™? XP boosts. And, guess what you can also buy in the Redbeans store? A bigger thumper. The hardest thing to upgrade in the game, required to gather minerals, with the biggest XP and mineral returns for getting a better one out of anything in the game, and you can spend your money to buy a new one. Then, one day, when Red5's money-counting devision was swimming in their pool of cash blowing each other, they got the idea that they didn't have enough money. So, why not make it so that players have to specialize in making only one kind of base part, and you have to have multiple people trading in Redbeans in order to build anything above a certain, extremely low level? Why, yes, that would definitely be a great idea with which to milk the great horde of money-having "people", they thought to themselves, as they rushed to the programmers bearing whips and blowing each other more. And, not only did the programmers do it, but they also decreased the amount of XP players get, increased the rarity of minerals, and increased the bonus of XP boosters. "No, this isn't enough", one of them said to themselves, while defecating on a pile of money, to prepare it to be set on fire. "There must be more ways we can make users pay money to play the game without releasing it as a paid game." And thus, the ability to buy into the next battleframe tier with Redbeans was born. TL;DR fuck Red5, once a great company, now a bunch of assholes who only care about money
in a perfect world we would all be piles of sand with no ability to form coherent bodies of body
