UK. By Oxbridge, I mean Oxford and Cambridge universities, and afaik they don't have overseas campuses.

I've had no problems with Cambridge. *Overly smug face considering I might have completely messed up the STEP part of my offer*

It's just annoying, having to look through those colleges and stuff. Especially if you wanna attend an open day...
And that must feel pretty annoying. Well, hopefully you'll find out in August that you did well enough. 06-30-2014, 06:14 AM
Yup. Other people did worse than they were expecting, so hopefully the grade boundaries are going to be low.

NaturalViolence Wrote:Gentlemen, start your debt counters. If you mean cost of uni, then yeah, it's quite fucked up. £9000 per year, that's a bit over $15,000. I've heard that both STEP and MAT grade boundaries are much lower than, say, A-level ones, but you probably already knew that. I'm not sure if they use UMS for STEP, if they don't then everybody is pretty much screwed... 07-01-2014, 12:18 AM
They basically plot the frequency of all the scores on a graph, and say the top x% get an S, then the top y% get a 1 etc. etc.
It's not that they're lower than A-Levels, but it's that they don't expect most people to get above 50/120 on STEP, as the questions are harder.

Or basically lower expected score for students of equal academic capabilities, irregardless of marking system. Edit: BTW, out of curiosity, which college did you apply to? |
