Did you make these? If so, can I commission you to make hd textures for other games?

I didn't use an AI upscaler for text. You can turn the textures on/off in real time to compare, there's very little difference compared to the original text. I'm not sure how anyone could view the minor text cleanups in this pack as an upscale issue, unless there's something in specific you're seeing you'd like to point me to (again, text was not handled by AI upscale). I currently have no plans for text changes, but I might play with them somewhere down the line. I'm pretty happy with where the text is right now. Yeah, there are some major risks associated with wholesale replacement of text, so I'm always inclined to use a light touch on text (or even leave it completely unmodified, when it's called for). The vanilla Eternal Darkness text has a lot of character, and it would be a project in itself to create a suitable HD replacement. Especially considering the font is proprietary and does not exist in the wild (to my knowledge). (06-09-2020, 10:39 AM)Hunk_4TH Wrote: Awesome work! Glad to see someone upscale this game finally Also sorry about mia lately. Been a really crazy last few months. Thanks mate! Nice to see that you're still around. If you missed it, Phazon added support for Metal Gear Solid a while ago. You can finally play through Twin Snakes with proper Playstation button prompts like you wanted to (06-15-2020, 05:06 AM)Brandedstand Wrote: Can I commission you to make hd textures for other games? You're welcome to float me an offer via PM, but I can't imagine us agreeing on a number. Upscale projects take dozens of hours to do right, so I'm not particularly inclined to do 50 hours of work on a game I'm not interested in for what is essentially peanuts. To put it in perspective: I've spent something in the ballpark of 110 or 120 hours so far on this project. 06-15-2020, 04:46 PM

If you are interested in upscaling textures yourself you could check out: https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-cu...l-ps-v46-2. It couldn't be any easier once you have it set up. There are also other upscaling programs such as Gigapixel, but those are paid for example. 11-22-2021, 11:27 PM
Played this, the difference between HD and original is so amazing! It's nice to see all that wonderful artwork in HD, just beautiful!

Many thanks for these textures! The game looks stunning now.
However, there is still the seam in the blinking skull circle. It's a vanilla bug that is even more prominent in high res. I have edited the right edge texture to make it almost completely go away. vanilla / hd / fix My OCD is sated now and so can be yours. Unpack and stick the attached file in the "splash, menu, and text" category and overwrite. 02-02-2023, 08:32 AM
Does anyone have png converted versions of this? I keep trying to use various converters but keep getting errors.

I thought I'd share some information on ReShade and the depth buffer in Dolphin for Eternal Darkness. I always assumed that it was a lost cause without serious modifications like Ishiiruka, but I managed to get it working just the other day. I haven't tested this in other games, but I noticed that there was a depth buffer available for this game and after selecting it, I only had to edit global preprocessor definitions to make it appear properly and align it. This is what worked for me, but it might differ depending on your system setup so you may need to tinker with it yourself:
RESHADE_DEPTH_LINEARIZATION_FAR_PLANE = 5000 RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_IS_UPSIDE_DOWN = 0 RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_IS_REVERSED = 1 RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_IS_LOGARITHMIC = 0 RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_X_SCALE = 0.7 RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_Y_SCALE = 1.1 RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_X_PIXEL_OFFSET = 738 RESHADE_DEPTH_MULTIPLIER = 50 I know a lot of people aren't fans of ReShade, especially when it drastically changes the game's appearance, but with some subtle changes (color correction, bloom, ambient occlusion, etc.), I was able to achieve a far greater atmosphere for a game that needs it (see screenshot attachments). Combined with OP's HD textures, if you squint your eyes enough, it almost looks Next Gen . Even OP's screenshots appear to show some minor color correction, so hopefully others will appreciate this. |
