Gonna pony up some extra dough for some of AMD's new tech on the market

http://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-dv6-61...B0051OLSKQ

Not sure how that'll run Dolphin. I would think the CPU even being a quad at 1.5-2.4Ghz would bottleneck the GPU wouldn't it?

Found another thread but it wasn't helpful...

Or there is this:

What about the Toshiba? I read somewhere Dolphin ran good on the A8 quads...

Looking at that doesn't seem to bad...
AMD is 20-40% slower than sandy bridges with the same clock...
and only cpu power matters (dolphin)
gc 2,5ghz++ (i-serie)
wii 3ghz++ (i-serie)

Running a First Gen i7 740QM 1.7-2.9Ghz with a 5730 and it handles everything on Dolphin I've played perfect. Including Wii games, so I dunno where you get the 3Ghz+ i series.

According to this the A8 3500M scored a tad higher on the PassMark bench than the i7

Yeah....in a heavily multithreaded synthetic benchmark.

Well, yeah I know that, but still.
iam speaking of the sandybridge i-serie desktop version...
who the fuck is using a notebook to play dolphin?

jeah but 90% of the popular games wont run on 2.9ghz(definitely not on AMD)...
just count the threads about optimizing speed, best revision, best settings why it lags...
everyone of these guys are playing on rigs between 2.0->2.8ghz
thats why 3.0ghz and no more stupid threads
Just wait for Intel Ivy Bridge. It will feature a integrated GPU on par with Llano with 50% more cpu performance per clock and 50% less power consumption and almost 2times performance per watt.
Well, desktop Llanos should do fine in Dolphin, though the gpu is lacking and sadly assymetric crossfire won't work in this case(its a shame coz adding a cheap 6670 enables the APU to play BC2 at medium details in 1920x1080). AFAIK the most powerful LLano is 2.9 GHz quad that can be OC'd to ~4.0 and GPU that fits into the lower end of dedicated cards(hd5570? or sth). Anyway, there's 1 solid advantage for emulators in these APUs, namely, much higher memory bandwidth between cpu and gpu, which is often a bottleneck. Of course, the current gen is too slow overall. However, the future generations of these chips will surely provide sufficient amount of computing power for Dolphin/PCSX2.
