So I ran into this problem in the past and figured it out somehow. But after updating my dolphin and the texture pack I have run into this issue of having super blurry text as well as somewhat grainy visuals. This only happens when I enable the texture pack and I have been messing with the resolution to no success any ideas how I can go about fixing this. Also my computer is fully up to specs I have run the texture pack at the beginning of this year fine and it looked great. Any ideas?

Try going into 'Post-Processing' and turning off some of the effects. I think film-grain might be one of them. 10-14-2017, 05:05 PM
New update, I'll just paste the links from the first post.
Xenoblade Core Texture Pack Current Version: 8.4 (October 13, 2017) The core pack contains BC7 DDS textures and requires Dolphin v5.0-4894 or newer. UI textures are created with uncompressed DDS and environments with BC7. DDS pack is now equivalent to PNG in quality. Download Links: Mirror 1 Xenoblade Core Texture Pack (Compatibility) Compatibility pack contains DXT1/DXT5 textures (uncompressed for UI) and should work with D3D9 era graphics cards. This is an alternative to the main core pack. Do not attempt to use the two packs together (one will overwrite the other). Download Links: Mirror 1 No changes to content other than a few mipmap fixes. I am no longer providing a PNG pack but it will be archived here. The reason is because I am now using uncompressed DDS textures for all UI elements and BC7 for environments and skins. For the BC7 textures the difference in quality to PNG is less than 1%, and quality of uncompressed DDS is equivalent to PNG. I see no reason to use a PNG pack anymore, it takes almost 9GB of RAM to prefetch, so there is nothing to gain but performance to lose. The latest core pack takes about 2.8GB to prefetch. This means one less enormous pack to upload, so I don't mind doing a second smaller one. This one I call the "compatiblity" pack, since at least one person posted they can't use BC7 textures with their current rig. So for this pack, rather than compress environments with BC7, they use the D3D9 formats DXT1/DXT5. This pack should work on older graphics cards that can't use BC7 textures. Uncompressed textures have existed since the D3D9 era so they are used for the UI, meaning they are equivalent to the main core pack in quality. This pack takes about 2.4GB to prefetch. 10-28-2017, 06:27 PM

I think my 60fps is code is close to done, but I need feedback on the performance before I update the wiki with it. If anyone wants to help, follow the instructions for the topmost code. https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-wi...other-mods
Also, if you get lag, please restart to 30 fps and try the AR code: 04819E68 00000001 04CA54C0 3F000000 04819E78 0000001E 0444B468 60000000 If the short code also lags, it's a general issue with running the game at 60fps rather than my long code introducing lag. Report back in the code's thread (not here) if it runs well or not. 11-05-2017, 03:26 AM
So I played the game using this project about ~2 years ago but stopped midway because of the stuttering. I'm trying to get back into the game now by first playing with only a 1080p native resolution to see if the stuttering stops. But I noticed my save files are gone. I tried copy and pasting the Wii\title\ folder into the newer version of dolphin but that didn't bring my save files back. I don't know what else to do.
I'd very much appreciate it if someone could help me out. 11-07-2017, 05:00 AM
Hello! I have been trying to play Xenoblade Chronicles with the HD texture pack, and for a while, it was working fine. From the beginning of the game all the way up to Tephra cave, the textures look fantastic. However, as soon as I enter Tephra, the video quality drops by a staggering amount. Everything looks blurry, like the textures are not loading? The character icons and ps3 buttons still appear but for some reason the actual character models as well as the cave itself seems not to be working. Currently using the Dev build with ubershaders and stuttering is gone. Just not sure why the cave seems off. Anyone else have these kinda issues?

Xenoblade has 3x "Monado" files which are the save files. If you right click the game in the Dolphin browser, and click "Open Wii Save Folder", they should go here. Thank you very much for your fast reply and a further thank you for this amazing project and all the time you have put into it. This is awesome seeing Xenoblade this way! 11-08-2017, 03:59 AM
So, played abit like 2/3 years ago when the project first started it was great. FINALLY got all the new updated stuff working (maybe..? questionable...)
few things.. on Page 1, make sure to tell people to set texture cashe to FAST to load the files... ANYWAY.... i seem to have partial load problems http://puu.sh/ygWsD/95564d8977.jpg the example on page one shows a much crisper and...less dirty backround for the menu, and this clearly isn't it. also, only the selected character has the HD portrait. When i change characters, it changes as well. http://puu.sh/ygWvw/65ad482054.jpg aditionally, chaaracters armors don't change, and the game runs in.... "something resolution" (FOUR black bars!) http://puu.sh/ygWzG/b393c55224.jpg big example http://puu.sh/ygWBs/2ea95afc55.jpg "smaller window example" ALSO, while this is using the installer, and as such dolphin ishiiruka, i have tried in two other dolphin versions i had, also problems. this probably means its a dolphins settings problem, but your front page doesn't say ANYTHING about what to make dolphins settings! the installer only installs a new dolphin, it doesn't adjust dolphins settings, so it's actually not that useful for...people who have actually used dolphin before and have adjusted settings for games before (some people may EASILY have not had texture cashe set to fast, and using ctrl+F on the front page reveals that literally nowhere are you told to change this..) Also, how the heck am i supposed to try to use the optional textures, if the patch/installer puts it right into the disk? shouldn't the installer have a "part 2" to configure optional textures? Or maybe just a "second setup" you can run, to adjust optional textures, and optional textures only? there are more problems but... first and foremost, i want to solve "partial loading" despite having texture cashe set to fast. (i guess all i have it "less partial, but still partial loading" or some nonsense?) with xenoblade 2 out soon, people will really start to flock to xenoblade 1 right now. even if you don't want to, you should make the front page much more inviting, things like big text to a direct link to the download+installer, and clearer FAQ instructions. also, the "before and after" images are out of date for some of those. for example, literally the very first image. the before and after is noticeable, but it still uses the outdated white flowers, when now it uses vibrant yellow and blue http://puu.sh/ygX8W/a1df7ed6cd.jpg i know saying "remake the front page quick" isn't very nice, but this is probably the most publicity the project is ever going to get at once with xenoblade 2 around the corner, so you should really spruce it up.
Wew, this is a lot of things so let me try to break it down and answer all your concerns.

Since the new texture format was introduced awhile back, texture cache accuracy has zero effect on the resulting hash. This used to be true, but hasn't been for a long time now. The pack will work with any accuracy. If your textures are not loading because of this, you are using an ancient pack. (11-08-2017, 03:59 AM)Dawnbomb Wrote: ANYWAY.... i seem to have partial load problems Angry http://puu.sh/ygWsD/95564d8977.jpg This is an odd problem. Based on that Shulk portrait, I can already tell you are using an out of date pack. Evil Jerk updated the portraits months ago. It should look like this: https://i.imgur.com/skJgjbA.png Are you using DDS textures or are the textures in PNG? I can only guess the Dolphin version you are using does not support BC7 textures. Try using the latest development version. Also, use the latest pack, not the one that comes with the installer. I have no idea what combination of Dolphin and textures you are using. The installer just complicates the matter. Please start over. Delete the old pack, and download the latest core pack and use the latest development version. I don't use Ishiiruka, so I can't help with it. But the latest version of it does support BC7 textures now (I think). There are also the "Compatibility Packs" for both the core pack and the buttons that use DXT1/DXT5 textures instead of BC7. I'm pretty sure your graphics card supports DX11 however. I don't say what settings to use because the default Dolphin settings should be fine. Again, texture cache accuracy hasn't mattered in years. It's when fiddling with settings do matters become complicated. The only thing that should be configured is the internal resolution so everything is in high rez. Scaled EFB Copy needs to be checked but it already is by default. Everything else is up to the user's preference. This first post is already bloated, it doesn't need a Dolphin tutorial on top of it. There are plenty of those here: https://dolphin-emu.org/docs/guides/ Also, the installer is out of date, I should remove it from the first post. I had this concern with the optional textures when Rickv123 first introduced it, but I'm soft for when people put a lot of work into something. I was against including a Dolphin with it, and I didn't like that it downloaded a different pack than I offer that would eventually become outdated (among other things). I always felt the draw distance patch should have been its own thing, but I can't force people to do something a certain way. I don't care to make it more inviting. The truth is, this pack still receives downloads in the thousands. If you want bigger text, hold control and use your mouse scroller. This thread which is also stickied, explains how to install a texture pack. An entire section is already dedicated to "Downloads", with the two most important ones on top. I don't see any reason to hold anyone's hand further than that. People barely read as it is. I have had people ask for the password numerous times despite it being right there in big red letters. Again, the installer is going to be removed. I got rid of that a long time ago because it was too different from the original. If the installer is using that texture, then it is wrong. Or the pack you are using is just that old. There may be a few elements in those screenshots that are inaccurate, but they get the point across that this is a texture pack. Nothing has changed so drastically that I feel I must update the screenshots immediately. You are the first person to ever have an issue with it (or at least the first to vocalize it), so I'll take that with a grain of salt. If anyone wants to use this pack, they are free to do so. If they don't want to use this pack for whatever reason, so be it. I'm indifferent to whether or not anyone wants to use this pack. I hope that answers most of your concerns. I am happy to help with anything else. I think most of your problems stem from using the installer, using an outdated Dolphin, using an outdated pack, or a combination of all of the above. I take responsibility for the issues caused by the installer, I knew well in advance something like this would eventually happen. And despite having multiple updates since it was created, I have left it up there anyway. Sorry Rickv123. |
