I'm trying to use SweetFX, which only works with D3D and not OpenGL. However, Xenoblade only goes to a black screen if I start with D3D.

What happens when you use the absolute newest dev version? (as of this writing 4.0-3935)

Does it work without sweetfx? If so then it's an issue with sweetfx. Simple as that. Most versions of sweetfx are 32 bit only but there are some 64 bit versions floating around the net.
