The game doesn't let me scan various objects (some of them vital to progress in the game) and I needed to switch to OpenGL backend to scan those specific objects.
But the OpenGL backend also has a very annoying problem:
If you fire Samus' main weapon for a long period of time (10 seconds or more I think) the cannon starts making a "heat" effect that last for 5 seconds more or less. That effect causes a huge FPS drop, sometimes falling to 25-30 FPS while the heat effect is showing.
does anyone has this same issue?
Hey man I am not sure if anyone has answered your question yet... But I ran into this a lot myself when figuring out all the bugs. What I noticed was that if you have all your settings figured out before you launch the game (this is using the OpenGL backend Or D3D btw) The scan issue does not happen. BUT once you even click the "graphics" Icon to alter ANY graphics setting you immediately loose the ability to scan anything. I noticed this happens with every Prime game. So try that and just do not attempt to adjust any settings while the emulation is active. Dolphin has a preset number of settings that it uses to prevent glitches, once you try to adjust any graphics settings in game you may also notice a slight FPS boost, while an FPS boost is nice... you'll have to deal with the problems that allow that boost to occur. This happens because you are voiding out all of dolphins predetermined graphics settings that prevent glitches.
As for the heat effect you are talking about... I have not experienced any fps drop from that. Now if you do not run any Antialiasing or Anisotropic filtering it helps to prevent FPS drops. The heat effect is a similar visual to the way a portal looks before you activate it. If you are having issues with that little wavering atmospheric effect... lowering your "enhancements" in the graphics settings may help.
