I was playing regular Mario Galaxy for the first time and loving every bit of it when I discovered this mod. Then I started puking rainbows all over the place, thanks thanks thanks.

Hey everyone. I just found this texture pack but I'm having some trouble. I have a great PC. i7 6700K, 16 GB Ram, and GTX 1070. However, when I run the game I get frequent stutters, and sections where it drops as low as 9 fps. I'm not sure what's causing this as I know my hardware can handle it. I should also mention that I'm trying to run it in 2560x1440. If anyone could give me some tips on the most optimal settings to use, that would be amazing. I would love to be able to play this

Are you using the 1GB PNG version? U should try the DDS one that's about 90 MB.

I didn't understand in the original post what the difference was between the two versions. What is the benefit of using the larger file? 11-07-2016, 05:48 AM
PNG files are maximum quality, DDS files are compressed... but when playing you probably won't even see any difference.
Intel i5-4690k (Devil's Canyon) @ 3.5 GHz (+Scythe Mugen) / Gainward GTX 1070 Phoenix (OC'd) / ASUS Z97 PRO GAMER / 16GB G.Skill DDR3-2400 CL10 TridentX / X-Fi XtremeMusic / Win10 Pro 64bit / Dell S2716DG Monitor / 3x original WiiMote+MotionPlus+Nunchuk

Ive been having a lot of stuttering as well but had only been using the PNG version... to use the DDS ones do i delete the PNG version and just put the files of the DDS or i download first PNG version and then add on top DDS and replace the files that are the same?
im confused because cant believe 1gb worth of textures got compressed to 90mb with minimal quality loss o_o!

Delete the PNG files and replace them with the DDS files. When compressing images with zip/rar/7z, DDS compresses to a fraction of the size of other image formats.

Interesting! at this point i wonder why having the png version available if the other one so extremely functional !?
