I do get a bit of the stutter now and then, but I think that was with both packs. I can test out both packs now when I have time with the new Ishii build. I don't really get a ton of stutter just a little bit with the SMG2 pack. I am not playing SMG1 atm. This is at 4K mind you with 2xMSAA and Nvidia DSR.
This pack was excellent! Thanks to all those involved in creating it. It's fresh and beautiful while staying 100% true to the original graphics. Had zero issues with it, which is amazing. You expect to run into a glitch or two, but it went extremely smooth, which is a testament to the well designed texture pack, as well as a great emulator in Dolphin. Great work! Looking forward to using the Galaxy 2 pack as well.

Hello,
i'm here only to say "thank you". I started to play with Dolphin, Mario Galaxy 1 and this 4k texture, max res, max filters, 75" tv. I'm playing with my daughter as second player, and i think that is incredible the work you have done with this 4k texture. Thanks from me and my daughter, thanks thanks thanks Bye Marco 12-24-2017, 04:07 PM
No matter what I do, I simply CAN NOT get the custom textures to load. Every time I launch the game, I just get the same old crummy textures. I have load custom textures checked, and I have the folder in the correct directory. It doesn't give me an error, it simply just doesn't load the custom textures. I've tried everything!

If you check "prefetch custom textures", is there an OSD message that shows 0.0MB loaded shortly after the game starts? That is one way to know if they are actually being found or not. If they are indeed being loaded, maybe you need to increase the internal resolution as a lot of people mistake this for textures not loading.

Check and make sure the folder name matches your game version name, your can right click the game in dolphin to see the ID.
Happy new year! And what better way to start it with an *unofficial* update to the SMG packs. I am making this same post in both threads, but each one will contain the unique changes made to each game.
Download: Mirror 1 - Mirror 2 - Super Mario Galaxy 2 Post All of my textures can be found in the "Bighead" folder within the pack. I kept them separate from the main pack in case CDAMJC does not want to use them when/if he makes an update. This has been months in the making, as I have waited to completely finish both games to make sure I didn't miss anything. I have included both 1080p and 2160p versions of the packs as well as PNG and DDS. The DDS textures are created as uncompressed ARGB32 for UI elements and BC7 for everything else. Changes and additions can be found below: Code: Fixes in this pack from original: The arbitrary mipmap fix to the sky in Deep Dark Galaxy was an interesting one and displays an issue I see with Dolphin (which I talk more about here). The first image is the sky with the default textures and GPU decoding disabled. The second image is what the custom texture looked like. The third image is the custom texture with arbitrary mipmaps at 2x IR. The fourth image is the same only at 4x IR. Mip1 and Mip2 use the same image as the top level, and every mipmap below uses a completely black image. All the important UI textures should be now be done, little inconsistencies improved, and buggy stuff fixed. I didn't do as much for this game as the 2nd because it was already pretty close to perfect. There are a few textures in the "Unconverted" folder which I'm convinced are not part of this game. I have collected 121 stars on both Mario and Luigi from start to finish, adjusting texture cache accuracy in every stage. I can only guess they are leftovers from Razius' Super Mario Sunshine pack. 01-01-2018, 09:24 PM
Bighead, you are a hero! Super Mario Galaxy has always been my favorite Mario game (I did not play Super Mario Odyssey yet, but I heard it even managed to top the amazing Galaxy games).
We need more heroes like you around here. Not only do you spent your valuable time in creating your own texture packs, but also in making texture tools that makes the life of a texture pack author so much easier and you even go out of your way to contribute to forgotten projects. I know there are a few more things that could probably be done there, and I think a couple busted textures still exist. |
