I made a n00b mistake.
I swapped out my 9800 GT for a 9800 GTX+ on my retro PC. The system booted up just fine and I could hear sounds from Windows XP, but I was getting no video output. This card was untested, and I had just repasted it, so I started to panic thinking I broke it, or it was already broken when I got it. So, I try to look up the old listing thinking maybe I didn't check, and I bought a non-working part, couldn't find any info. As I'm walking back to check the system again, I realized I didn't plug in the 6-pin PCIe connector. Turns out the card will boot just fine without it, but you won't get any video output XD
