I use Arch without an xorg conf and this has never happened to me. I don't understand why it's such a meme.

I don't understand why it's such a meme. a while ago, it was common for rolling-release systems to release kernel upgrades before any kernel-dependent things like xorg had updated to the new kernel. Lately, the kernel hasn't really even broken xorg on release at all, but the meme persists.

Regarding Ubuntu... I still remember updating from 10.10 to 11.04, then freaking out over Unity. I wasn't very familiar with Linux and apt at the point, didn't know how to switch DEs, so I switched to Debian, with its two-year-old package goodness. Then Gnome 3 came, and I switched to XFCE. I laughed to myself as I red about the Ubuntu Unity Dash spying scandal.
However, I'm probably trying out Ubuntu again (when 16.04 comes out), after about five years of avoiding it. I might even try Unity again (I love my win-123... shortcuts)... Why? Only Ubuntu and Arch have up-to-date openjdk-fontfix packages (so JetBrains IDEs don't look like shit). And I can't configure Arch properly. 04-23-2016, 04:10 AM

I can't wait to play Borderlands 3 on Linux
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2016-0...-next-game It's probably going to be based on Unreal Engine 4. 04-24-2016, 07:20 AM

Didn't at least one of the other games in the series have a linux version?
I checked, and Borderlands 2 has an option to install under Ubuntu. I'd be surprised if a game's sequel didn't have at least as much linux support in this day and age.
OS: Windows 10 64 bit Professional

All of the Borderlands games that run on Linux were ported by Aspyr and did include "native" OpenGL, as in it is a source code wrapper (I guess?) and they focus on imitating D3D9 instead of writing a true native renderer.
That's what my whole issue with Linux ports is. They all perform like crap and now people think Linux as a gaming platform sucks. |
