Well, I never used the old one that PPSSPP would download for you (it was questionably reverse-engineered, so it was never included by default). Works great with movies and mono/stereo Atrac3+ so far. I've only tried MGSortable Ops, Disgaea 2, and KH:BBS; I haven't dumped other games because I've really been waiting for PSP emulation to hit this level first. But everything sounds good to me. Some people report slight crackling, but that's leagues above having just sound effects and some voices some of the time. My JPCSP in-game saves transferred just fine, apparently, so I won't lose any progress from Disgaea 2

Definitely. Now with PPSSPP, there's no need to rely on external decoders (even SonicStage might be irrelevant soon for JPCSP since the Atrac3+ decoder is being patched into FFMPEG). You can pretty much dump and play without having to worry about major issues, at least in the games I've tried (yeah all 3 :p ). It's quite enjoyable though. I had to hack the SDL build to play at 3x IR, but I really just changed like 2 lines of code, and boom, HD gameplay. I agree with Garteal though, give it a try yourself; you'll be impressed at how mature it is. I got into PSP emulation around the time I got into Dolphin (summer of 2011) and both have come quite a long ways.
