Welp.
Replacement card went dead 3 hours after I installed it into the PC. ASUS AMD cards, never again :/

That's weird since ASUS products tend to be high quality. Maybe you just got a bad unit.
Did you overclock or something? 10-26-2013, 10:37 PM
Or maybe your PSU is broken and fries GPUs.

I don't think it actually fries GPUs. Is there a way to test this using some kind of power meter? Also, both cards appear to produce coil whine. 10-27-2013, 05:51 AM
Gah, I'm gonna return it and use the credit they (i really hope) give me and add 50 dollars to get the Palit GTX770 Jetstream. I already tested with another GPU, which is, of course, working fine.

Yesterday morning my brother asked my Dad to plug the PS2 back into the TV. Yesterday evening my dad had bought a 3D TV, a cheap 2D TV, and a Blu-ray player. I'm not entirely sure what happened between those two events, as I was asleep most of the day, but it seems more work than just putting three wires into the existing TV.

Dunno if anyone noticed, but earlier this week PPSSPP updated their FFMPEG code to use Maxim's Atrac3+ decoder (by default with the git repo, no need to do the changes yourself). Essentially there's no more need for the old (and legally questionable) Atrac3+ decoder.
Personally, this is just what I've been waiting for. Finally PSP emulation is just about perfect on Linux. I could get some of the audio to work with JPCSP on Linux (crazy workaround required) but now I can play all of my games just fine. It's time to play MGS Portable Ops, Peace Walker, and KH:BBS in HD for real this time. 10-28-2013, 10:48 AM
Still haven't tried PSP emulation. Is it fully playable?

Yes, I beat Gods Eater Burst a few months ago. While it did have some graphical issues (the skybox was bugged, some snow textures didn't load) it was fully playable.
I tested some games like Dissidia and Monster Hunter here and there and they worked flawlessly. Go give it a try! |
