A disturbing trend in console/handheld hardware:
DS -> 3DS -> 2DS XBOX -> XBOX 360 -> XBOX One We seem to be going backwards 08-29-2013, 06:08 AM

Last week the President spent the night at the Holiday Inn and worked out at the YMCA in my city. You all wouldn't believe the amount of security there was. I haven't been on lately. my net access got cut on Saturday the 16th at 6AM. I managed to complete a couple games since my net is down. Just completed Darksiders 2 and Alan wake.

While it's easy to miss with that OMG UGLY handheld being announced, Nintendo also announced that the basic edition of the Wii U is being tossed and the Wii U Pro is coming down to $300. And instead of including Nintendoland, it will offer a downloadable copy of Wind Waker HD. Smart move.

Your average H77 board is around $80 while your average Z77 board is around $130. That's a pretty big difference. lamedude Wrote:If the limited overclocking was still available I could see the use in it, but a cheap mobo isn't going to much further than a 4670K's 3.8GHZ and you've already spend >$200 on the CPU. A cheap board can overclock almost as far an expensive one now that the PLL, VRM, memory controller, and almost everything else important to overclocking is integrated onto the cpu die. This is just an artificial limit put in place to force enthusiasts to spend more money, since they know they will. And now they're actually enforcing it for a change. This is one of the few things that I still love about AMD. They still haven't tried to pull this crap.

Regarding the presidential visit to my city Auburn, NY the security was crazy. Police cars and undercover police cars all over, blocking roadways along with city dump trucks blocking roadways to where the president stayed.

PCH prices, ark.intel.com list H77 as $43 and Z77 as $48, but OEMs probably sell more H than Z so I wouldn't be surprised if they get a volume discount on them. Z77 boards usually come with more features that will drive the board price up (I dislike paying the SLI tax and Lucid is another useless to me feature). As for the i865 its the same story. Feature "exclusive" to i875,PAT, gets enabled on cheaper i865 only to get fixed a month later.
I don't know how much the on die VRM negates the need for fancy 10 phase power. Seeing how much W these CPUs take at those high clock speeds a board designed for 84w might not take kindly to 1.5x-2x that. 08-30-2013, 03:06 AM
