Thanks for the info JosJuice. I had a pretty good feeling that JPG wasn't supported anymore. I think I may have even known that at some point but it's been awhile, so I wasn't entirely sure if support for it was still there or not, or if it was reintroduced for whatever reason. Since the majority of Android devices do not support BC7, it should be worth creating a downsized PNG pack so old versions of this pack aren't floating around in the wild.
Hypatia's TLoZ: The Wind Waker HD Pack v2.0001a

@roundtree: If you ever decide to return to this post, please try one of these versions on Android and let me know how it looks/works. This should be a huge improvement over the version you linked. I do not suggest anyone use that version as it is actually v1.0 of Hypatia's pack and is missing a ton of stuff, while consuming more RAM than the packs the below. The most recent version contains slightly over 2500 more textures, has the mipmap effects fixed, and is a lot lighter on usage.
Android Texture Packs: Resolution x4: Download Link Resolution x3: Download Link • The "Android Resolution x4" pack has been slashed to a maximum of 4x the size of the original texture resolution. Total RAM to prefetch: 4.07GB • The "Android Resolution x3" pack has been slashed to a maximum of 3x the size of the original texture resolution. Total RAM to prefetch: 2.27GB I tried a "half size" reduction and it was still requiring about 10GB to prefetch. I tested both of these packs out and they still look good even on my 1440p monitor, so I am assuming they will still look good on a portable Android device. 01-30-2022, 11:29 AM

Sorry, I have been MIA for at least a few days. Minetest sucked me in so bad, but I made an underground base in the Cave Realms, and then made 2 visible rooms and 2 "below-ground" rooms, a garden and an arboretum. You can grow anything you want underground! So I made a youtube video about it to show people. But I wanted to say I tested the larger size pack, and it works beautiful on Android! That blows my mind how someone like yourself who has never used Dolphin on Android just made the absolute BEST texture pack ever for Wind Waker on the Android version! Now that I have tested it, I see what you mean. A LOT of textures were missing from that version I posted, and it just didn't look right. Now I feel like I'm spoiled, because my textures look so clean, and I'm hooked on that BetterWindWaker version. I also have an "Android" texture pack for Twilight Princess. I have never looked at it that closely, but I'm curious if that pack is the same way, and also who posted these weird versions of the original texture packs? I have not been able to find the exact original post yet. But thank you again, and I will be playing through very shortly here, because I lost my old save file. I had over 90% of the game complete but accidentally deleted my save. 03-28-2022, 10:12 PM

Really loving Hypatia's textures - game looks amazing. @Bighead I just wanted to let you know that the PNGs in the "Android" versions you linked work great, but for some reason if I try the DDS versions, only the UI element textures are loaded - none of the environmental ones do. Might just be me (and I can use the Android texture packs so it isn't an issue), but wanted to post here in case anyone else has the same issue. Many thanks, Daniel. 03-29-2022, 02:49 AM
If you are using Dolphin 5.0 you need to use a more recent version. Support for BC7 DDS textures was not added until sometime after 5.0 which is what this pack uses for the majority of its environment textures. Try a "Beta" or "Development" version from here:

Apologies you're right, downloaded the latest Beta and the DDS textures work perfectly - thank you . 04-01-2022, 11:35 PM
This is really great, thank you for all the work! I have two questions if you don't mind:
1) How can I install the widescreen patch on MacOS? EDIT: I tried to do this on a PC I have access to, but I keep getting a Patch Failed: Bad MD5 error. But I'm certain the ISO I am using is correct. 2) Is there a way to invert the free camera? The left and right is throwing me off. EDIT: Figured this one out. Found some AR Codes that did the trick. Thank you! 05-02-2022, 12:30 PM

My game kept crahsing due to the pack demanding too much ram. Will try your version!
Long time Mobile Emulator freak. Used to be very active on pspupdates...Good old times.

Wow some updates! Sweet! Think I'll give the 2.0 a shot. Also using a newer build of Dolphin now instead. Thinking about trying to make a shader with DOF+SSAO+Scanlines, maybe. Not sure if I like SSAO yet though. All in one GLSL unless there is one available that works on 5 dev.
What kind of android specs are required to run 3x pack? I know my pixel 3 (faster cpu variant) can barely run dolphin afaik & some games don't work. I need to get me a BT Xbox controller though my ipega busted & I have a Xbox1 clip ready to go that I was going to mod for Switch Pro, but apparently switch pro doesn't even work on android for gaming, connects but lags. Btw where do you get the models from? As seen in; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnyCOFohyYw Cant seem to find them. |
