Oh, pfft- didn't change a thing, now it works *shrugs* The second post said it may not have audio; the save I used to test Command Mission, I had already collected all the tokens, so I'll report back when I start a new playthough to see about the sound.

Spoiler: * Load the game in LLE recompiler mode, connect 2 - 4 GBAs and use the emulator's save state function to save one for each player. * Exit the game, load it up in HLE mode. For each BIOS you load, just load the state for that player number. It'll be linked to Dolphin immediately, and play works normally from there. With HLE audio on, and the newest builds of the PR Dolphin/VBA-M, River Belle Path no longer has any slowdowns except for when the waterfall is in view during the boss fight. Miasma streams no longer slow down at all. My boyfriend and I just cleared year 2! 03-20-2015, 02:48 PM
The update has been merged into master 4.0-5899. The link requires VBA-M svn 1235 or later.

Erm...you may have to re-merge the VBA-M patch. I think squall overwrote your work when he merged the bgk-link branch into master.

Thanks, Autofire. The latest VBA-M GC-GBA link code is still there but it is a little more work to get it going. To establish the link with Dolphin, the "File > Link with > GameCube - Dolphin" option has to be enabled every session. The Link timeout can be set to anything. From there, the connection should remain the same.

Arright, got to being able to use the Treasure Radar in Command Mission -- still some temperamental freeze/stuttering when loading the bios in VBA-m, but attempting (and re-attempting) to connect from modded Dolphin eventually connects: functions as needed and sound works fine (VBA-machine goes "PING!" in area with token), but may be causing some audio glitches in Command Mission, specifically during Action Trigger and Final Strike, gonna test summore to pin that down tomorrow (or if bug from just fact of emulation, or just my computer not being a up-to-date gaming beast).

Yeah, does seem to be that linking to the Treasure Radar causes minor audio glitches in battle (some Final Strike and Action Trigger sound effects do not play) and in cutscenes (1-2 seconds before BGM consistently shifted to my left speaker (but not voices and sound effects: they stayed balanced)).
I've had both emulators running, GBA bios loaded, Joybus on, but did not activate the Treasure Radar (so, the last step), and did not cause the audio glitching. But when I did and caused it, even after I turned off VBA-m, the audio glitching would persist in the emulation even through the savestates (closed Dolphin, opened, loaded savestate: bug continues). Going into Controllers and turning off that port from GBA to Off would not remove the effect. Would remain until I freshly loaded the game (ie: booting up the game and continuing from in-game save system as if on the regular console). Since the tokens can be gotten at leisure, I'll save that for grinding and level revisits later instead of plot continuation: but I imaging if there's audio bugs for other games, they might become annoying. 03-23-2015, 03:05 PM
Xuncu, do you notice if Dolphin's CPU usage went up at the same time as when the audio glitches appear? I have an idea where this might come from but I am a bit surprised that there would be a noticeable effect like audio glitching.

So, here's some results of me trying to run the Interactive Multi Game Demo Disc v16 & see if I could get the Berry Program Update to connect & run with VBA-M. The first result was what I tried a few months ago. There was no output in VBA-M.
This is what I got this time using VisualBoyAdvance-M (SVN1239) & Dolphin 4.0-5921. Enabled the bios in VBA-M & linked to Dolphin using: File->Link With->Link With GameCube-Dolphin. The game & save file I used was from my original cartridge so, I know it's not a problem with that. It looks like VBA-M & Dolphin are at least connecting to some degree now, which is a huge improvement Here's a video of what the successful connection looks like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1Y3DqOIVBQ 03-24-2015, 01:32 PM
Nice, yeh, the pokemon games are problematic. Have you tried turning off the framelimiter in Dolphin? The option is: Options > Configure > Framelimit = Off
If that doesn't work, I have one more thing I could try on the VBA-M side. I'll let you know when that eventuates. |
