Hi all, I'm new to Dolphin, but loving the emulator so far. I tested the IR settings on Pokemon XD for GC, and noticed a difference in texture res as I increased the IR. However, I'm wondering if a difference of 4 FPS would matter much to gameplay? I have my IR set to 2.5x currently, but when I increased it to 3x I noticed a drop of about 4 FPS. 1x-2.5x gives me an FPS of 18, while 3x gives me an FPS of 14. Do you think I can increase the IR to 3x and be ok with a 4 FPS loss, or will my gameplay suffer, especially game speed?

Quote:and noticed a difference in texture res as I increased the IR.Nothing happens to the textures. The higher your IR, the more pixels you'll have on screen which makes for better image quality. At 1x you have a small resolution of 640x528. 2.5x makes it 1600x1320. Quote:Do you think I can increase the IR to 3x and be ok with a 4 FPS loss, or will my gameplay suffer, especially game speed? That's honestly up to you. The game will obviously run a bit slower (like you noticed), but if you can deal with it, then go ahead. Generally, you keep increasing the IR until your speed drops. So 2.5x is the one you should be using if you want to play with the best image quality and performance. 01-06-2013, 09:48 PM
Your fps decreasing as you increase your IR means your CPU is being bottlenecked by the GPU (Your GPU is at it's limit), it's best to just the leave the IR at whatever value gives you max fps, as for the 4fps drop, it really comes down to preference.

Why should not we use AA with this guide?
I mean - I tried x4 internal resolution with AA and it worked great. Shouldn't I try AA, after x4 IR doesn't give me any drop? 01-22-2013, 04:14 AM

That doesn't mean that you can't or shouldn't use AA, but that wasn't what I wanted to focus on. Feel free to use AA, if your hardware can handle it.

Onboard GPU? The Radeon 3000 GPU is a dedictated one. Anyway, it's weak 1-1.5x IR is possible I think.

Sure, you can put one of these on your Pci-e bus but that would be more or less just clogging the space So my bet is on the : AMD 760G Chipset with ATI Radeon™ 3000 Graphics These are indeed weak and getting your FPS down.. 02-01-2013, 07:46 AM
Definitely onboard, no question about it.
