FFV1 usually maxes out bandwidth. Can't do anything about that if the bottleneck is outside of Dolphin.

If every backend switches to UID and they stop being version-bound, then could we finally get auto-updating builds?

There are definitely other reasons we don't do auto-updating builds, but that would clear one of the hurdles.

Ah, that's still a little cool I guess. What else is preventing Dolphin from getting auto-updating builds?

I have one thing to add, why does it matter? Any user who has ever used more that one dev build knows states usually don't work and cache needs to be rebuilt. I still update usually once a week or every other week so a simple button in the config menu to update to the latest build would just save me maybe 5 minutes a week. Auto update to stables and manual button update to dev builds, done. Not that it matters as easy and quick it is to update manually.

Ah, I forgot about save states. I never use them anyway, but I do see why they could be an issue.

Lots of users think using savestates as their primary save method is fine, and freak out when it breaks from a bug or an update. Over and over I've had to tell people not to rely on savestates! Out of curiosity, what exactly makes savestates incompatible across versions?
