What about using "Auto (Window Size)" as IR then? :/

......?????

Why on earth would you even try using 0.5x internal resolution? Not only is it bound to break at least something, it will make it look worse, while still having to rescale things, so giving little to no speed boost.

Some people have serious GPU bottlenecks after all. They'd take speed over image quality. Also, for some, they just want to play the game, regardless of any issues. I'm not sure about how much 0.5x would improve performance for those with low-end GPUs, but at the very least it ought to lighten the GPU's load, and the rescaling itself shouldn't be terribly demanding either. 03-24-2012, 09:25 AM

Dunno if Dolphin's OpenGL backend has a 0.5x option or not, but it wasn't there when I looked. I just set the IR to Window Size and resized the window to something smaller at my best guess. Anyway, normally I can't get 1x on my laptop to get anything above 23~25 FPS. Setting it lower, I actually reached 32 in a lot of places. Didn't help too much with wide open spaces, but other areas were all about half-speed, which is playable in my book. So yeah, IRs less than 1x can be helpful. 03-24-2012, 10:16 AM

Lower IR's than 1x were removed some time ago. I've made the case that it will help some people with weak GPU's but it was apparently deemed not necessary. You can use the official 3.0 release if interested since IR had lower options at that time.
Asus Laptop: K53TA
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-Bit - SP1 CPU: AMD Llano A6-3400M, Quad-Core, 1.4GHz-2.6GHz (Overclocked) GPU: AMD Radeon HD6650M, 1GB GDDR3 (Catalyst 13.1) RAM: Samsung 4GB DDR3-1333
Because laptops are portable (unlike the GC/Wii) and the image quality at 0.5xIR looks about the same on a small laptop screen (compared to a real GC / Wii connected to a big-ass HDTV with crappy cables and analog-to-digital conversion)
