Greetings,

I am new here and have not used Dolphin as yet but plan to as I came from an OSSC to use with a Wii and it all just does not make it work well on a 65" widescreen 4K TV. The OSSC goes in the trash. So, now I found Dolphin and see that there is a lot in getting the right PC. I have two that I am hovering over as they are small and I have to have small due to the location of the TV.

I have these two in mind:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08B3Z...T4QL&psc=1

I really like the Beelink GT-R but not sure if it's overkill? Which is the better of these that I can run Wii on a 4K TV @60HZ maybe even @30Hz with no issues? I will not be using this PC for anything else but Wii emulation. If you have another suggestion please advise, I'm open to any mini PC under $800.00.

Thank you kindly!
i5-5257u should run most game fine , demanding game probably not . U series mobile CPU is not good for emulation due to poor clock speed , if it was something more recent like Core i5 8250U or ryzen 5 4500u then it should be ok
Ryzen 5 3550H is probably ok but barely . Buy sth that has Ryzen 5 4500u or Ryzen 5 4600u or even better Ryzen 5 4600H
4K TV? None of them have a discrete graphic , i5-5257u Intel Iris Graphics 6100 won't go past 2.5x IR (900p) , Ryzen 5 3550H Vega 8 Graphic probably can do 3xIR max (1080p) , 4xIR (1440p) is probably possible on 2D tittles . If you use default Dolphin settings , Dolphin will use your default resolution which is 4K on fullscreen mode, most games won't run well

Edit : Does it have to be a barebone PC ? For $600 , you can get a very nice gaming ultrabook that has 10th gen Core i5 and a discrete graphic Nvidia MX350 (cut-down version of GTX 1050) , it probably can do 4k in Dolphin

$800 could get you a much faster laptop with Ryzen 5 4600H and Nvidia GTX 1650

Or better yet , build an ITX mini PC like this , $500 could get you i3 9300F @ 4.2GHz and Nvidia GTX 1650 Super

Thank you for replying. It's very appreciated. Is there a better PC you would suggest? It can be a little larger than a mini but not much.

Thank you.
See my edited post , get a gaming ultrabook (it's super thin) or build an ITX PC if you want more bang for your buck
Barebone PCs are too small so don't expect good performance out of it

I found this and it seems perfect:

and this:

The first PC will run Dolphin like a charm but it's too expensive that no one buy it yet , old i7 literally just a weaker i3 these days i7 7920HQ < i3 9300F by 16% . Perhaps it would be wise to wait for black friday
The second one doesn't seem to have enough airflow , amazon buyer said it didn't perform well

Greetings,

The Beelink GT-R(not out of my budget really) was reviewed by ETA Prime and it seems to run Wii well but he mentioned higher frame rates were not achievable. I see why now, the video card is not up to par. I did find this mini pc with these specs:

Operating System: Windows 10 Pro
CPU Model: Xeon E3 1231
Processor Speed: 3.4 GHz
Memory Size: 16 GB

Specification

Processor: Intel Xeon Processor E3-1231 v3, 4 Cores, 3.40GHz, Max 3.80GHz
Memory Slots: 2*so-dimm DDR3 slot, max support 16GB
Drive Interface: 1*msata high speed SSD, 1*2.5 inch sata3.0 SSD/HDD
Discrete Graphics: 4GB GTX1050Ti/GTX1650
Power supply: 100-240V Input ; 19V 9.5A Output; 5.5/2.5MM DC port

Seems to have all I want and or need in a small form factor.

Thank you.

You mean the Beelink Ryzen 5 3550H ? Well it only has integrated graphic - the Vega 8  , integrated graphic doesn't have its own video/graphic memory a.k.a VRAM (Nvidia GTX 1650 for example , has 4GB GDDR6 VRAM) , integrated graphic has to use your DDR4 Ram . DDR4 Ram has much less memory bandwidth than GDDR6 (21.3 GB/sec Vega 8 with 2600MHz DDR4 Ram vs 192 GB/sec Nvidia GTX 1650 GDDR6 VRAM) , 1440p Dolphin (in his video) is impressive , still no good for 4k though

Right, that is why i am looking into the other one I mentioned. The Beelink is not up to par.  Big Grin
