What are your settings and what game are you trying to play?

First download the latest development build from the download page where you scroll down a bit.
Second point: What game are you trying to play? Does your keyboard respond in the controller section of the settings? If not: Try to click the default button there so everything gets setup to the default settings and try again.
Quick EDIT:
If your profile is correct (I hope so since you joined yesterday) your computer will be too slow to run anything at a playable framerate, except maybe the least demanding games.
