I am building a new computer after my old one recently broke down.
I'm planning on getting these parts.

intel i5 3470
xfx radeon hd 7850
gigabyte ga-z77 ds3h
corsair vengeance 8 gigs ddr3 1600 mhz
thermaltake tr2 600 watts psu

I am planning on playing metroid prime, skyward sword, twilight princess, custom robo, mgs:twin snakes, i-ninja, super smash bros brawl and melee, and sonic adventure battle 2 at 2-3x ir and 2-4 samples antialiasing.
Get yourself a psu from a more reputable brand. Someone else will be along shortly to talk about performance.
How about a corsair cx750?
Sure. 750 watts is probably a bit overkill though.
spend a little more for a 3570k (20 dollars more and wont break the bank).

and for Power supply i suggest Seasonic 550W 80+ GOLD Certified PSU. 45A on 12v rail (540w) and its modular!. and its cheap.

itll be more than enough power for your build. Smile

hope i helped!

It's not modular though. And it's bronze rated instead of gold.
It can provide more than enough power for his PC . Even i5 3570k @ 4.5GHz + 7850 are no problem
@OP Get Asrock Z77 Pro 4 instead of Gigabyte Z77 ds3h . Asrock Z77 has "no k overclock" function , you can overclock your i5 3470 to 4.0GHz
The Radeon 7850 should be fine, I think, but I don't know shit about GPU performance.

The i5-3470 might not be enough, especially for Metroid Prime and the two Zeldas. A 3570K will do better, especially when overclocked.

Yeah Swapping the mobo would be useful if he plays on keeping the non overclocking cpu but like i said. the 3570k is only a slight bump up over the one he wants to get (20USD$ more)

yes the one you linked is a good PSU too but i hate non-modular psus ( i refuse to self-build with them nowadays. to much clutter Tongue) but if he doesnt mind cords the 30w less PSU should be fine for him. plus itll make him save some cash.

if he goes your route he can throw in a 3570k & swap mobos & throw in that extra 10-15$ towards an aftermarket cooler if he doesnt have one already. and if he does he could use it for a slightly better graphics card.

you also raise a good point. zelda games are a bit intensive and so is metroid prime. espically if he wants to play skyward sword he would want a 3570k for ease of overclocking.

Radeon 7850 will be fine. i can play twilight princess full speed with it at 3x IR/ 4x SSAA (thought it required me to overclock to get it 100% fullspeed, 2.5x IR /w 4x SSAA will be fine for a stock 7850)
