Full Version: Wind Waker Disable EFB Not Working

I tried to disable EFB, like the wiki for Wind Waker suggests, but when I launch the game, distance blur and heat effects are still on. If I toggle it in game, they turn off, but not without leaving a ghost image of when I turned it off that takes up most of the screen.

Also, for some reason, it doesn't recognize the Z button; it thinks it's the R button. It's bound right in the settings, and other games recognize it correctly.

Other than that, the game runs beautifully.


EDIT: I figured it out, here's the fix from the wiki:
"Using a custom projection hack of 0.7 to 0.9 (Z-far) will remove the distant blur with no noticable impact on the rest of the game. This should work on all GFX back-ends and is not affected by EFB copy type. "
The Heat effect is an AR code and is listed on the wiki, but the DOF effect (I thought) was fixed in newer builds. I always thought that EFB Copies to RAN was required for "best results" overall. Or are you talking about XFB? forgive me, I am not in front of my emulation machine and do not know my exact settings for WW

This is what the game looks like whenever I start it, regardless of whether EFB is disabled or not:

This is what happens when I toggle EFB Disable when it's running, you can see what it should look like through Link's silhouette:

I want it to be disabled completely, if possible. Like what you can see through the silhouette in the second picture. I've gotten it to happen a couple times, but I'm not sure how to make it happen consistently.

Also, the AR code didn't work unfortunately.


EDIT: I suppose it would help if I actually read everything on the wiki. This solved it:

I found the solution, I just didn't read far enough on the wiki. This is what fixed it:

I don't use a custom projection hack and it looks fine all the time. Try these settings, but raise your internal resolution to what you normally use. http://forums.dolphin-emu.org/showthread.php?tid=23618
Actually, while that fixed the DOF effect, it messed up all the menus. I can't see any options on any menu (inventory, main screen, etc).

For my settings, I'm using OpenGL, Auto (Window Size) resolution, and everything from the image I posted earlier.

It's still a very blocky/pixely depth of field like from my screenshots. And just to clarify, the custom projection fixed it but broke the menus.
Just a reminder, disabling EFB Copies fixes it, I just can't get it to stick when I use it. If it's turned on when I start, it doesn't work, but if I toggle it when playing, it seems to work, except for leaving a ghost image like in my second screenshot.
It seems if I disable it just after starting the game, EFB Disabled works. A pain in the butt, but at least I can get it working. Hopefully it won't interfere with anything later in the game.
Go to your Dolphin folder, user/gameconfig/GZLE01 (NTSC game) and change this "EFBToTextureEnable = False" to true.

That didn't work. Neither did any of the other EFB options.
There are two ways to make the game look blurry as you describe:

1: Disable EFB Scaled Copy

2: Use EFB To Ram without the Ram cache option

Not sure what you're doing there, you refuse to post settings and my game looks great all the time. There is not much more I can do here.
